Wow, that was awesome. The head was really expressive, I think in part due to the design, but also the use of the eyes. I think it probably worked a lot better in the video than in real life (because they could cut a lot of the time consuming transitions out) but man, what a sight. It looked like there was a giant elephant in the very beginning too...and the title had something about an elephant in it (in the credits) so I wonder if there were more massive puppets as part of that.

Man, props to whoever came up with that idea and to the puppeteers who must have had a heck of a time coordinating that.

That was an excellent idea, perhaps expensive, but the way the puppet was constructed is perhaps the most incredible features besides the size.

That was totally awesome. It did get a little creepy in a few places, as even the best puppets tend to do from time to time, but for the most part it was fantastic. Beautifully executed.

Hey speaking of Puppets anyone else super excited for Dark Crystal 2 to come out? I know I am. Imagine if they had huge puppets of the Skeksis and the Mystics. That would be a sight.

That was beautiful, thanks for sharing. Puppets usually freak the hell outta me, but this one was so wonderfully designed and life-like. Wow...

I think the effectiveness of it can be credited to the designers/sculptors who took strides to make the face as warm as it was and everything was animated at a good slow pace. They kept mouth and eye movement fairly simple and I think that worked greatly to its benefit. When you think about it, it didn't really have an impressive amount of articulation and I know I've seen puppets that may have been more technically impressive as for as articulation is concerned, but were much less natural in how they were sculpted. They kept the movements slow and fluid and took a lot of care to get the eyes right.

Just imagine what a magical moment it would have been for the kids riding on her arm, with her looking at them... they'll never forget that

And there are people in the world who don't consider puppetry a true artform...
