    In PS, are brushes "cheating"?

In everyone's oppinions, are using photoshop brushes you download, considered cheating? Like, say I'm in the daily sketch forum and the topic is "make a guy with wings." There are wing or feather brushes out there. If I draw a guy then use a wing/feather brush, is that cheating? or is that within the relm of possibility because it's a ps brush? Also, I would think creativity with the brush has something to do with it too but...

Please let me know your oppinion!

There is no "cheating" only "shortcuts" in drawing digitally. If we can see you taking those shortcuts, we will call you on it. If we can't...its a good tool.

naw its not cheating, but you also have to take care not too over do it, beginners tend to over use certain brushes alot, like the grass and leaf brush for example.

You can use custom brushes, but just make sure not to get any repeating patterns by painting over top of it. I use alot of custom brushes, but I always paint over top of it so that I get a more random look.

    Using any brush is cheating.

If you're not spitting ochre on the cave wall, you're a dirty, dirty cheater.

Almost every thread title provokes a smart-alecky comment to pop into my head. It is only with great restraint that they don't show up in the thread.

For more complicated brushes like a feather brush, I usually feel better if I make the brush myself.
