is there a specific non-safe issue you were warned about? I've never had a problem, four or five years now I've been using it. Pretty secure and reliable, though it's not a bank, so you don't get the assumed protection of things like FDIC

I had an experience in which I added my bank account number to the paypal account so that they could deposit money from sold items on ebay into the bank account instead of cutting me a check, which cost extra. Somehow, a third part start using the Paypal account to pull money from the bank account into the Paypal account and them move it from my Paypal account into theirs. I never found out if it was just an error or was it fraud. I was resolved eventually after a bit of leg work, but it was disconcerting. I immediately removed the bank account from it and only use the credit card, which has its own safeguards.

    look at it this way,

they have spent more money than just about any other company making sure that their service is solid. it may not be perfect, but i think it is most likely your very best bet.

there are a lot of paranoid people out there. however, i am integrating PP into my site that is to be launched shortly and this was after reviewing most all of the bad stuff. i still decided to go with them.

if you want something safer, get your owm merchant acct. thats the best way to go.

VashTheStampede: That solid sercice doesn't mean anything if you are the one who is losing money out of that. From wikipedia:
In the United States, PayPal is licensed as a money transmitter on a state-by-state basis. Although PayPal is not a bank, the company is still subject to and adheres to many of the rules and regulations governing the financial industry including Regulation E consumer protections and the USA Patriot Act.
They are not a bank and these "many rules and regulations" that they have to adhere to are not the ones that give you security. It's won't matter to you as long as it's not your account that has problems.

Mods are in a banning spree, Dissolution.....If you don´t start making sense or just post anything outside the lounge, my guess is that your future will be among the ones already banned, if you are not in fact one of them already with another ip addess/ identity.

i would say yes, paypal is safe, but if your using it for ebay and have a 0 feedback score, watch out thats who the conmen target, i was conned with fake emails ( they seemed credible, i even got paypal and ebay to investigate them as i had suspicions about them as ive used my dads account for years, they replied that they were safe) blah blah another million details, but it turned out they were conmen but i didnt lose out because the address they asked me to send it to was a condemned building ¬_¬

i would say if your using ebay for the first time, make a few small purchases that only cost a few £'s each to get a feedback score, your less likely to be coned then, if you dont know what the proper paypal emails etc look like then its easily done

Paypal's the only payment method I use when buying stuff from eBay... Besides, almost all sellers from eBay use it...

to clarify my post, i was referring more to hacking safety.

THe only danger i can imagine from using Paypal is when some hack start phishing for your password. But that can be easily avoided by not blindly clicking any link in a seemingly PP email. Other than that i've never had no troubles.

You're always at risk of money being stolen. But I'd say you're less likely to get your money stolen through paypal than having some girl kick your ass in an ally and steal your wallet.

I won't use it. I've seen way too many bad stories about them and I don't support them as a company. Which sucks becuase I can't buy any white ninja merch since he uses paypal.
