Using European CDs in the US?

I want to pick up some CDs that haven't been released in the US, so I was going to order them through amazon.co.uk. But then I started wondering if there's any difference between UK/Euro CDs and US ones. I know there are differences between DVDs from different regions but I never even thought about CDs before. Anyone help me out? Thanks!

I can't say for sure, but I don't think there are any differences in CDs. I know there is in video because the US uses NTSC and Europe uses PAL. I have a Pink Floyd CD I bought on Ebay, and it came from Germany. It works fine.

I have a japanese cd that worked fine. You could always ask someone who works at a music store

I have a lot of CDs from the US and they all work fine, backward compatibility is something I'd bet on.

CDs are the same the world over, it's DVDs you'd be screwed with. Which is fairly nonsensical, since you can buy region-free DVD players

Thanks everyone. And I was pretty sure Australian ones had to be played spinning in the opposite direction...

My German exchange student uses my computer all the time to play her crazy German ska. Listen to some if you ever wanna have a laugh.
