    sketches and stuffffs

thought i might post some fairly recent stuff here...theres quite a bit of it that people may have already seen around online at other places...but i'll try to add to some unseen stuff as well.
a handful of these are drawings that were in art shows at the shooting gallery in san francisco

see some of you all in montreal this weekend!

not too happy with this particular scan, but you get the idea

these drawings came out of little project where i was making some spokecards to trade and give to some of my friends that i ride bikes with alot...
every once in a while in san francisco you see these random pirate/homeless dudes that have all sorts of junk and ride bikes around. its a pretty amazing sight and was part of the inspiration for these
these were fun to do...just sitting around doodling, bikes can be pretty challenging to draw from memory

Really really great stuff. I especially like the fourth one down, the girl with the waving arms. I've always liked your work. Oh, and the pirate bikers are sweet too.

wow whats happening ? is this an update ?
Haha awsome ! thanks alot wes !! Im good for drawing for a year now !!
Your shading is getting tighter than ever. Very good !!!
Just got a small question, do those pics have the actual contrast of it when you've done them, or did you tweaked them a bit with the scanner (or photoshop) ?
Anywway its good to have you back !!

Wow, I'm so happy you decided to show some new stuff..
    These are very inspiring..

I've been wondering for quite some time if you have a rough composition in your head when you start out, or if you just doodle away.. because even your rough and unfinished sketches have compostions that are appealing to me. Just... pleasant to look at.
Your skills and also your style have evolved quite a bit since you last showed something on these forums.

The pirate-bums-bikers are awesome, their bikes look kinda small though? Or maybe you guys have smaller bikes overseas..

Anyways, it's good to see some new art from you, thanks for posting these!

    wow..
    I mean wow...
It's soo cool you're posting again, all the drawings we've seen on other sites are so small and hard to make out really. It's great that you scan bigger versions of them!
but my god. The lines, the designs, the compositions.. it's so amazingly inspiring. I really love the last character designs, they're very creative and fun looking at.
    Please please post more!!

btw, I saw your myspace, and found out about some really great music thanks to you, so thanks to that too.

    best wishes,
    tigermilk

We love you Wes!!! man i want some used wes straw right now...

Your lines are so confident, do you do much searching at the start or do you know exactly where to place the lines the first time round?
