    Sundown

Here is some stuff that's a bit different than the video game work I posted last time. First off is an ad I did for Adidas Originals, called the Oregon:

    Sundown

This is an apparel design for my site:

    Sundown

This next one was done for an article by PingMag, a Japanese web magazine:

    Sundown

And these last two are part of a collaboration with a French photographer called Stéphane Tartelin, who took these shots here in Tokyo with a pinhole camera:

About that Adidas ad. Did you do that for 180Amsterdam?

    Very very cool stuff, btw.

The third one (the PingMag piece) is terrific! The colors and motion, just beautiful.

not sure how I feel about the colabs at the bottom. They look nice, but leave me wishing the backgrounds were drawings too

wow Gez, I've been a fan for a while but these last ones really stand out. While the japanese-web illustration is a bit james jean-ish, I love it and I think it takes your skill in draftsmanship to pull something like that off. But the photo collabs are what really stand out to me. They're really evoking something in me that I can't quite put my finger on. They're both really delicate and fascinating to look at, and I think your choices of what to draw over the photos is awesome. Way to go with your instincts (if in fact that's what you did ).

I love it, that's all I gotta say. What I wouldn't give for a print of either of the last two.

I am in love with this one http://www.gezfry.com/pics/gez_ukiyo-e.jpg

Did you just scan your own paper texture for the background?

I saw these from the interview too. Very interesting stuff. The comercial is very cool and I like the idea to add drawn figures in to photographs. The Logo is excellent done and I like the japanese style picture very much.
And I'm interested too, about what Joshua asked. Your art is king

Hi Gez, Great work as always! Have you ever considered going into footwear/fashion illustration? It is just that some pieces on your site have some stand out designs when it comes to clothing.
I am also liking the ukiyo-e style print, do you have any particular favourite woodblock artists or prints which inspire you?

Wow, these ones have a big impact. I really love the colabs, especially the first one, "end of the day". the partial transparency is what really makes the composition interesting, in addition to the cartoonish hard shades.

    Great work mate.

I love the third one as much as everybody else.
But the "photo drawings" are definately something new.
Never saw something like that before, cool stuff.

    thanks a lot guys!

Deke - yes, 180 Amsterdam. Have you done stuff for them too? I love your online portfolio, great stuff.

Dave - thanks. i'm not really completely sure about the photo pics but i think i like them.. i can see why you're not sold though

    rascar - thanks!

    shinryu - cheers!

    scrawneh - thanks!

    dallas - thanks!

kian - not really, but thanks

kress - thanks! i'm really glad you like the photo pics that much. i don't have plans for prints at the moment, but maybe some time.. by the way, while i like james jean's work a lot, it's not really an influence. the biggest influences for that pic were the works of the shin-hanga artists from the first half of the 20th century and the superflat movement (murakami takashi, etc.)

joshua - cheers, and for the message on ping too the textures were a combination of a bunch of stuff, some blank washi paper i scanned, and various scanned areas of washi printed using the ukiyo-e technique (i.e. with wooden blocks).

    gun - thanks!

arne - glad to hear it, thanks!

    blue - cheers!

    vigostar - thank you!

walnut - thanks, not right now, but maybe at some point.

jp - cheers, glad you liked the site.

    bruno - cheers!

wes - thanks! your work is awesome.

zao - wow, thanks a lot.

    yumiko - cheers!

    groover - thanks!

mike - thanks, actually i like doing this kind of stuff more than character designs, because there is more leeway to be crazy and be yourself. it's all fun though.

    shao - thanks!

kakatuz - thanks, that means a lot.

glynn - thanks, i'm glad you like my clothing designs. rather than straight fashion illustration, the area i'm most interested in is advertising illustration, which often overlaps.

dikiminster - hey man, how's it going. thanks for always being so kind with your posts.

    jabo - thanks!

    addict - cool, thanks!
