Something different - concept. shoe +*2 new pics added

    Hello all,

Havent posted for a long while, been a very busy year. Doesn't mean the lurk would be hampered though Anyways, ive just a few days ago finished my first year at uni, very satisfied and having my first few days of rest
Thought i would work on my illustration skills over the summer, so hopefully ill be around here more often, and throwing a hand in aswell every now and then.

This is a project we had in midyear, it was a 2 week one, during which we had to research, come up with an idea, design through it, select and aquire materials, make, draw 4 final designs + make a sort of a presentation about it.

My idea was sort of a morph of a briefcase, i used only the details of this bag, and made it into a mens shoe. Found the bag in one of the 2nd hand clothes shops in London near Portobello market for just 20£, so was fairly cheap considering what other people spend on theirs
    here is the briefcase:

There were many very nice shoes made during this, considering that noone had no idea what to do, it was a total experiment. I think everyone enjoyed it though, and here is mine:

If people are interested in things like this and more conceptual fashion, i could post some clothes ive made and drawn aswell so let me know if you like it

    all the best,

    Olly

Hmmmm.....I think this may be the first time anyone has made a shoe and posted it here. So you took that bag and made it into a shoe? I could definitely see some punk or glam rocker wearing a shoe like that. It looks like it has a mouth....and is that the bag handle on the back?......very unique indeed

I'm not aware of being interested in Conceptual Fashion, but I gotta admit, that's a pretty cool project idea! I probably would not choose to wear the shoe myself, but I'm whitebread fashion-wise. It IS an awesome shoe none-the-less. Good work.

I like it. It's like a mini Project Runway challenge.

That shoe looks great! I'd wear it. And I'd love to see your other stuff too.

EDIT: What does it look like from the back? Is that bag handle attached diagonally?

That is fucking awesome! Looks western-y, couldn't do any better with the materials IMO.

The leather laces kindof bug me, but other that that I really like it. Post some of your other work too. Maybe you will start up a new section in ConceptArt.

    I want that shoe, really.

I wonder if Android likes it? I think it'd go great with his ammo glove.

Thanks for nice comments, very encouraging. Im working on a sort of odd attache case at the moment, design + illustration still, so check out the WIP section tomorrow or so

    nofingers, Boogieman, Bai Fan

The front of the shoe has got a sort of contractable feature, similar that type of a briefcase. The handle is attached horisontally around the back of it, it can be gripped to taking off/putting on, but its equally important as a detail. And Bai, hehe the laces was the one thing i was sweatting about on the morning of the crit, it seemed impossible to find some nice thick cotton ones, they only sold some flimsy ones at the local Timpsons, anyways in the end i just cut a few strips off the spare bits and there it was

I will add 2 more pictures to explain details better for you guys.

Thanks guys, I had some people being interested back at uni aswell, it would be an awesome project to go forward with the real thing from the prototype - i am working on some attache cases right now, but if people are interested, i would definately get into the shoe again, so give me a pm and we can have a talk about it

anyways, thanks everyone for feedback, i think ill post another project I did on trousers and pleats tomorrow

Really solid shoe design I reckon, it certainly does reflect on a western influence though as has been mentioned . Id also like to see the sketches/prelims'/finals that you do..

My only querie would be the front of the shoe how it tips up.. do your toes fit comfortably in that small space? because looking at the dip in the top of the shoe, it seems like it would cut into the tops of your toes.. =x

Great project however, and im glad it turned out well.
