    Cool A Poster a Week....Gothic-Industrial Club Advert

Hey, it's me. I would think it prudent to try and recieve some input on this black and white drawing. It will be the underlying image for a gothic-industrial-punk-metal hardcore club. The owners have hired me and some other artists on a weekly basis, so I will be doing a full size 11x17 drawing every week. I remembered Norman Rockwell could do it so I agreed. This is my first art job that doesn't entail sitting in a booth or going through a gallery, so I'm pretty excited. After showing the initial thumbnails, below, the art director chose the one in the upper right.

The club drink specialties are the vampire's kiss and absinthe. They wanted something sexy with an open subject as long as it represented the dark underground, from cyberpunk to classic gothic.

3x2 squares, number 2 pencil on Strathmore dry media paper. Probably 2 hours, but more like 5 with all of the thinking during the day.

Vine+Compressed Charcoal and white chalk accents, 6 hrs 11x17 on Strathmore charcoal paper

Looks great so far! I would suggest fixing the hand though, the thumb doesn't look right.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

Finished, and updated. The club closed down, as is wont to happen in Memphis. This one was especially shortlived though, and they didn't pay me. Word to the wise...

I love the picture though, so I'm glad to keep it and the thumbnails I generated for the other ones will probably go into production later on.

Well, back to show and gallery work.
