Gotta love you uk thread guys. Nice show of support! Thanks for stopping by I'm touched (Honest!)

Kian: Hi mate, no graphic design background to speak of (other than a brief fling with a graphics degree student, but she was a bit scary!) I've been finding more inspiration from graphics style stuff recently, been reading a lot of Computer Arts magazines.

Chris: Hey It's been a long time buddy. (Can you even remember when I came to London for a meet. You were hungover but by the sounds of it, that wont narrow it down!) Glad you like the pets one, I had a little more leighway to experiment on that one because it was for my future mother in law, twas fun. And Lens Flares?!?!? How could you think that? It's just a low opacity standard ps brush to show some of the lights on the singer. I'm off to cry now!

Asoir: Thanks for the comments mate, they're always appreciated. People seem to love the cat's expression. It was funny, the dog took a few attempts and some tweaking, whereas the cat's image I nailed first go.

Hey dave - how you been buddy? Hope you're doing well.
Your own personal style seems to be coming along nicely - getting pretty refined. Which makes me want to challenge you, I'd like to see you mix it up with your personal projects - use a style of lines that aren't your style. Go nuts, or go conservative, but I think experimentation is extremely important.

Anyways, spent a good chuck of time on this - trying to please my buddy dave. Still somehow, something bugs me about it . Chalk it up to experience, always the next time.

IA: Y'know what, I was thinkkng that I may be in a comfort zone with my colouring, so I'll accept. I've just downloaded Barontieri's brushes as recommended by DieOxin and will have a bash at different methods.

Thanks for colouring the singer mate, she's ace. I'll put her up on my blog too, if that's okay?

This1: Hey man, thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! Glad you liked the Aztec one, that went down quite well.

Ermac: Keep at it buddy, I've only been colouring for about 2 and a half years now, it's amazing how quickly you can learn. I'd recommend the Peer Project thread (there's a link in Idiot Apathy's signature) for a good resource in colouring. And any of Proms tutorials rule. (Follow the links from my website)

Right, now hopefully this attachments thing has uploaded my images in the right order, but if it hasn't, I'm sure you can all work out the order of these. I'm colouring this one in a new way. I used to always colour with flats first, but as Tom mentioned in a post somewhere, not only does that feel boring, it also doesn't feel much like painting! Here I've started to paint straight off with the airbrush, we'll see how it goes from here...

If you're reading this, drop a comment. I want this sketchbook to become bigger! Give me stars dammit!

Blue: thanks mate. I guess my stuff is a bit different from the normal stuff you'd expect here. When I found this place I was scouted by EA so I was looking into becoming a concept artist, although when I found out I wouldn't be drawing as much I strayed into a more traditional illustration field, but because I got on well with a lot of people here, I stayed. Saying that, I've noticed more comic people are coming here these days, so I'm not alone.

And now, a sketch. No purpose other than a simple warm up. Hope you like it! (and if you do, remember to comment!)

Dave, I've seen your work a lot before and I always forget to tell you.
Stop using that big fat outline, it kills your linework and your coloring.

Try without it, I think you will benefit from the change.

    Keep at it anyway, cheers.

Goodbye...ftv: Is that a good or bad thing that you can't think of anything to say?

Niklaass: No, I've never used Oil Paints in my life. I sat on some once, but that's a different story! Anyway, to answer your question, all of my work is coloured in Photoshop.

EvilDisco: Thanks for the advice, I may have worded it a touch more diplomatically myself, but thanks nonetheless.

Hey guys, sorry for not updating in a while, I get a bit engrossed in work and forget my online duties sometimes!

By way of an apology, here's the finished infernal piece. Note: the background is just a placeholder so that I wasn't drawing on white, the commission didn't require a background!

Razorreke: Thanks for dropping by, I'm glad you like my work --it shouldn't make you feel small though!

PS. Keep your eyes out for next months issues of imaginefx and advanced Photoshop...

Wow, nice stuff dave. Yours is a pencil style that i can recognise straight away and i can see that your time in the coulouring book has gone to good use . That spartan pic in particular has great lines...love to see it rendered a bit tighter though.

Hey bro, looking good man. Saw this the other day on your blog, was happy to see you experimenting with your lines too.

I remember you asking a while ago (long while probably) if you could use any of the collabs we've done on there, sorry if it wasn't clear - you can always use them.

Ok, one thing for you to think about is perhaps having the green explosiony stuff on this guy cast light a little more predominately on his body perhaps?

    Cheers bro!

Mull 77: Hi mate It was funny how much I worried about getting a style when I wa younger, and one crept up on me without realising it! The colouring book thread is great fun, isn't it?

Durin/Piru: I'm in your inspiration folder? wow, that's cool, what a nice compliment!

Tom: Re: the lines, yeah, I'm entering a bit of an experimental time again. I just did a colouring masterclass for advanced photoshop magazine (I'll post the finished version here when I get permission, and that again felt a bit different (repetition of "again" -10 points!). Poshspice showed me a filter called remove white, so I've started to replace my lines with colour, I don't know why I wasn't doing this before!

Time for some art, flets show a couple of collabs! (I'll show something I've done tomorrow!) first off, one with colours by Idiot Apathy:

Then a very nice one with colours by Myako:

you have to click on the attachment icon, then you can select insert all. It's similar to img tags. Once in a while it will only display thumbs though. Not completely purified yet I guess.
