    Dave--

The rendering is outta sight. You really nailed the figure, and the demon is not far enough behind it that it shows a lack of reference, though the level of "perfect" is not quite the same.

Is this the whole piece? If so, I will say that the composition is a little bland for me. I think you could have pushed things a little more, possibly moved the figure a bit more off center (probably by adding space on the left), or given the demon a bit more of a diagonal in the angle of the wings. Something to give a little more dynamic shift to the layout.

I think it's definitely one of your best as far as lighting, mood and realism. I want more!!!

looks pretty good, i dont think the edges around the contour of the guy's pants should be so hard, something about the color of the background doesnt do it for me.. too saturated, i think.. i thnk also that some of the light from the creature's eyes should reflect into his hands.. has to be very very subtle.. the hands look great, by the way.. overall very nice rendering.. did you do the creature out of your head?

Hot damn man....you just keep crankin' 'em out, and they get better and better. Main Loop touched on a point I wanted to make, and that's about the lighting. The figure really looks like he's lit by a spotlight from below, and the monster for the most part matches...but I'm really missing some sense of connection between the two. I think some light (or at least reflected light throwing some purple in there) from the beast on the hands would help.

Actually, on second thought, what I'd *really* like to see is a cast shadow from the monster up onto the hands...that would reinforce the existing light and really serve to put them in the same picture together.

this is a really good piece. I like that the magic shown in this piece feels somewhat different.
Some parts of the demon look wrong / boring however I can't tell what exactly is bothering me.

Beautiful work, my only crit is that the beast in the foreground is much softer that the man in the background. The man inbehind is much sharper and cleaner. Maybe it's focus but the creature dosen't look as real or there as the man does. Not as detailed.

The man however is just, WOW! The detail, the hands, the clothing, the expression, just WOW!

    great peice dave!
i love the figure and his clothing. spot on.
i agree with fukifino though, the main figure needs a cast shadow from the demon and some reflected light from the demon's skin color somewhere on his palms and maybe on his shirt but very subtle.

this was also mentioned already, but the background could be pushed more.
i'd love to see them in some sort of setting.

composition could be more dynamic too, but the rendering makes up for it
    (setting could help this too)

    beautiful painting though overall.
just a couple things that would take it up a notch and really blow the mind.

Gorgeous work, Dave. Despite being a highly detailed rendering, the result is fresh and full of energy. You could finetune it to death, but I really don't think you need to. Bravo!
