I'm liking the look of it, some really innovative designs. I'm also involved in a video game project, keep posting! I want to know of its progression.

(the below info is about 5 years out of date...)
I'm a game art and design student, focusing on conceptart, currently working on a class project to build a videogame using unreal editor, starting with concept, moving into 3d, world building, etc. i've been doing some concepts for the game. Some of this is old, some new, i'm moving my old thread from the "sketches" forum to the "sketchbooks" forum, so this is all in order from oldest to newest. Still a little new to conceptart.

Cool tree. There are some anatomy problems in other figures. But the tree is damn cool.

An old man and his magic hat of companionship!

    Artzealot's sketches.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. LukeTores, thanks for the compliments, yeah i did make the refrigerator look a bit ominous. Someone on my team is supposed to be modeling it, and it seemed like the best angle to display the reefer in all it's wonder. thx.

eazym, thx also for the compliment on the tree, yeah i like it too, i still want to do a few things to it, but it's reading alright for now. As far as my characters, yeah, i agree. I'm still trying to self-teach myself anatomy, i got a great anatomy book, and loomis' books, i think once i understand anatomy better my characters will start getting better, till then i just need to keep studin and keep drawin.

Celvin H, that's a pretty good idea to make a cat zombie with it's face falling off kinda like the bag is sagging off it's face in the sketch a few posts up.

    thx again guys.

Hi there, thanks for posting in my sb.
I like what I'm seeing here. The organical evironments are really strong, maybe the strongest in this book. I can see that you're working with the perspective and all.
What I think you can do is push the contrast on everyone of the pictures a tad bit. They are a bit blurry and soft right now.
    Good luck with it.

    Hugs!

Nice speedpaint. I was looking over your things, and as far as your figures go I noticed they're all kinda stiff, sans the anatomical problems - that's just something you fix over time. However, if you draw more from life than from pictures, you'll get that natural movement. A picture is just a still - you're forced to replicate an action freeze-framed. If you draw someone from life they're always moving, even if they're attempting to remain still. In compensating for that, you generally produce some more fluid marks. Cool stuff man.

    Keep on truckin'.

I think you are onto something on this speedie. Hard vs. soft brushes. It can build contrast in itself. It's kewl to se how you dared to use the hard brushes on some points of it. I think the other speedies could need the same threatment.
    Good luck.

    Another update,
Pencilator, thx for the advice on the need for contrast. It is true, a lot of my quick sketches do lack a lot of contrast, i think i just need to speed up to move from the block out process to actually refining shapes and stuff. Maybe i get too loose when i block stuff out at times.

Myxomatosis, my anatomy does need work i agree that more figure drawing would fix that, i'll be getting more next semester in school, lets hope it pays off.

    Helltaxi, thanks.

Simon.Rain, thanks, any and all compliments are more than welcome.

Pencilator, hi again, yeah the hard brushes to do water was all out of laziness, i mean, i should have used soft brushes on the water but i think i was running out of time and wanted to get it in real quick.

Anyway, thx everyone for the advice and compliments, heres some stuff i did today. More Alaska stuff, i went clam digging at this inlet area below.

i was foolin around this morning, trying to learn painter... this was done using mostly "gouache" brushes:

    Artzealot's sketches.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
--- Frank Herbert, Dune - Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear

This one is classwork, we're supposed to come up with some sort of side scroller game and draw a "screenshot" of gameplay:
    Artzealot's sketches.
