    grue's doodlebook - still trying to grab anyone's attention (1-5-2009)

    Go to the end for the newer/better pieces.

    Update

    -=== 14 - 12 - 2008 ===-
    I deleted my oldest entries because they were bothering me.

    -=== 23 - 11 - 2008 ===-

    I'm a bit ashamed about some of the pieces in here, I'm only leaving them for the contrast with my latest ones. If there's any that is.

    Hey all!
    Been ages since I posted anything although I do lurk about in here.
    I'll have another try to keep this sb alive.

    Here is my latest quick sketches. 4 days old the oldest and 20 minutes the newest.

    Not a bad start. I would suggest using some rougher brushes to add better detail and texture to your digital pieces.

    Lord Blue: Thanks I'm waiting to upgrade my PC at the moment and due to this I don't use PS so much. I mainly paint in Sketchbook and it doesn't have an option to use rough brushes.

    Hey grue. Thanks for visiting my sketchbook!

    You already have an understanding of how light works. On the other hand, you depend your paintings too much on the effects that photoshop is capable of delivering. Try to use simple brushes and keep all those crispy, blurry or spotted brushes for when you really need them. If you want to have texture in your pictures, overlay a texture at the end of the process. Also, drop the white and black when highlighting/shading. Use complementary colors instead, or tone in tone ones. Using white and black makes images bland and artificial.

    Other than that, welcome and happy painting
