Teen Challenge #8: The Final Duel

Sorry about the delay, busy weekend. You know the drill - anyone ages 14-19 may submit an entry at any time before the deadline, and any medium (sans photograghy) is allowed.

    The Topic:
    Scene: The Final Duel
As requested, this round will be a bit more of a challenge - rather than a single design, it will require a fully illustracted narrative scene. The scene itself is open to interpretation, and can take place in any location or time period; the only requirement is that it depicts a fight to the death between two (and only two) original characters. No descriptions allowed - tell the story with your image.

The Deadline (now with slight extension):
Wednesday, June 21th at midnight EST
About three weeks from now - hopefully that'll give enough time for those of you lucky enough to be attending the workshop, as well as everyone involved in Last Man Standing 2. If not, let me know and I'll extend the deadline a little.

Good luck guys, I look forward to see what everyone comes up with.

Sorry, but people asked for an open topic, and I agree. Orcs have been done a thousand times, I think a scene with practically endless possibilities will yield far more interesting results.

Besides, it's open to interpretation - you're free to make yours about orcs if you're that eager to draw some.

To be honest, I don't really know. I just kept the rules that Kronos established in challenge #2. Personally I'd be fine with 13 year olds participating, but I don't even know of any that post here, so the question's never been raised before.

Speaking of Kronos, does anyone know where he went? I haven't seen him post in a couple months or so, and it's too bad because I really liked his entries.

quick question: is text allowed as part of the image, not necessarily a description but more as a title?

    Yay for W.I.Ps!
I'm trying to stay away from fire and brimstone, they're so tempting for "final battle".

Hmmm, I'm thinking air dual right now, just gotta figure out something original for it. Maybe an underwater one, something where I can go nuts on the angle. Mmmm, so may ideas passing through my mind right now, where to begin? Which one to do? What sort of character? Human? Alien? Fantasy? Animal? Plant? Inatimate object? What setting? Tropic? Arctic? Aquatic? Apocalytic?
    (don't mind me, just brainstorming)

Alright, I'll allow a title if it's on the image. Try to keep it short though; the goal of a narrative illustration is to tell the story with the image rather than with words.

Lookin might fine so far sloth. I cant wait to see it finished, can already tell by some of the detail in the floor you have going there that this one might be even more spectacular than your last.

Sloth, Dam man, the rendereing on that arm closest is so awsome. Certinly a treat for the eyes.

Note: Pleease turn that guys head toward his attacker, seriously, it would help the image so much with composition.

edit: you know what, nvm, looks fine as is.

Yeah sloth; Can we get a concept of yours? I'm not sure what to think of it...

And goog- Work with darker colors than you are. Remember what looks dark to you might be because of the light BG. When looking on the color box, remember, despite what your eyes say, just because it looks almost black 3/4ths of the way down doesn't mean it IS black. It took me a while, but as Coro put it once; Just work Half steps lower than you think you should, and half steps higher than you think you should.

Cheers dudes. I know you guys are cooking up some bad ass shit . Better get back to work before the flood of awesome art starts pouring in.

The concept for mine is two Aztec kings (i'm into the aztec theme atm) have gained the powers of the gods to duel for their territories. Unfortunatley they do not know how to control their newly accquired powers hence they start to cause fires around the great city. Since they were killing too many civilians on the ground with their duel they moved to the roof tops of the temples. The guy on the left just got slashed in the back by the dude on the right so he is fleeing to get a chance to catch his breath.
