lol, totally agreed, "Oh great, not ANOTHER epic journey... sheesh..."

Aside from that, very creative and beautiful piece.

man - didn't you bust this out super fast?
I like this piece...nice colors, nice designs. The main guy could use a little work -but it's a solid piece.
    cheers!

As I scrolled down, I was thinking "gorgeous," but then I saw the green guy's face and it was so out of place for me. He's so cartoony compared to the scenery. But, I guess that's all just style, so I can't really critique it. Beautiful scenery and tree things and colors. I love the light up eyes, too.

Great rendering as par usual. Just one crit: When looking at the image as a whole, the bright horizon light in the top right seems like a fairly dominant focal point. I'm thinking maybe just make the bug stand out a bit more and/or increase the intensity/range of its 'headlights' to do so.

    cool work.

the character is adorable, and the back drop of the BG is awe inspiring.
    great job, man.

Excellent execution! I love the compo! Some things are a bit off, perspective more than anything. But it is not really hurting the piece at all. Good luck in the judging!

I just checked out your site: you're a digital genius with a great imagination.
Q: how do you work? what's key? crazy brushes? I'd love a little insight!

ArtbyZak - thx, I wanted to give him the look of, meh this is going to be a walk in the park.

    Rhineville - hehe

Loomer - yeah I did do it pretty quick, I found about the challenge about a week before it was over and I didn't start in earnest until a couple days after that. What slowed me down most was fighting Photoshop and my comp slowing down.

Kei-th - yeah I should of done something there, but I ran out of time ;(

Magicgoo - thanks, yeah he may be a bit too cartoony.

Cognition.sb - thanks, I'll take that into consideration.

    Chuck,mate - thanks man

    Asoir - thx

Mike - Thanks, yeah I'll need it, the competition is fierce!

    Chenzan - Thank you

Beelow - yeah now that I look at it a few things seem a bit 'skewed' but the nature and fun of the image I think kind of hides it.

Adam Hunter Peck - hehe I dunno about a genius, maybe one day, I just like to paint. yes lots of crazy brushes!

Thx all for the crits, they are much appreciated, I'll keep them in mind for my next piece, but alas this contest is now over and I already submitted my final. I'll just have to do better next time.

Wow man, you never cease to amaze me.
For the sake of not ass patting, though, I think it would add a bit of life to the pic if you put in some birds flying buy in the background, or some smoke coming from the little colony or something. Right now it seems like he is the only person for miles and miles., Like a vacant world.

The color scheme and sense of depth are amazing though, man. keep up the great work.

EDIT/ you're not in the industry, already? Oh that is super depressing for me

you can critique style when it seems to clash with the rest of the piece.

I don't think it's that notable, but I think it could be tweaked for the better because it does stand out a bit.

That being said, this is so much fun to look at that I don't even care. Such a great establishing shot!

wow! what detail. I like that green dude. reminds me of that bacteria plankton thing in spongebob!

    random reference from google:
    The Journey Begins

probably just the eye, but makes me giggle. hehe.
the scene is breathtaking. as in, my breath is taken by merely imagining how long you spent on each little minute detailll!!! it's lovely.

I like it. My only problem is that it looks kind of washed out and gray... oh wait, that's the sunlight reflecting off my monitor. Never mind, it's great. It doesn't fit too well, but I've made it my new desktop background.
