    WIP-Droid

Hey guys, a few days ago i went digging and pulled out an old concept piece and decided to add some color and depth. Now i admit i have been quite busy with other things for a while and foolishly put my art career on the backburner, but starting back in on this reminded me just how much bloody fun i have when creating. Needless to say I'm a bit rusty and could use some pointers on how to bring this picture to it's full potential.

Perhaps the government should start a public service campaign warning of the dangers of dodge and burn and how it doesn't reflect what actually happens with light and color.

Actually its not so much dodge burn dogfood as it is Smudging The only things i had really worked on so far was the exoskeleton armor and the "muscles" in the arm.

Heres an earlier pic, I liked the more yellow green i got later from the muscles, and was working on spreading it to the rest. If you have any good resources on light on rounded metal that would be sweet, im having bad luck on google at this moment. Anyway im starting over in corel and trying a more...standard process on the original image, hoping to have something nice to pop on here for crits soon.

use refs of a dude standin in armor with top down lighting.

His thigh in particular would not be lit like that.

Make the areas closer to us brighter.

Also, need bg and forground props for scale and to create interest.

Put a mechanic working on him and pilot smoking a cig in the foreground in a warehouse or something - make sure they are at an angle.

Way too monotone too, scrape him up a bit, add some dirt or something. Put some flags and symbols on it's shoulder.

Also without a bg, it's hard to get ideas how to detail it.
