    Sharpie Sketches

What's up people? Where do you all get yal inspiration from? I have recently gotten my love for sketching back but I can't think of anything to draw and I usually end up drawing characters from video games and such but I want to be able to make up my own. Any suggestions? thx

Inspiration from head to paper art? This is an area that I'm proud of myself for, so I lend a tip here:

Don't draw the characters... yet. Sit down and smash out a few pieces of cool clothing, maybe some patterns, the way they all mesh. The pieces drawn separately help to flesh out the general "attitude" of you character. It helps to think of some back story. Why they dress the way they do. Why they cut their hair like that. Etc etc..

Inasmuch as a straight crit goes, work on refining your line technique. Everything I see is heavy and thick, with little or no variation. Skillful art requires an understanding of when to draw heavy lines and when a line should hardly exist.

Hope that helped, welcome to CA

thanks for the advice, I feel what you are saying about line variation. I will try to slow down and think more during my sketches. great advice on character development also.
