Skrunchey's Sketchbook Update
Ok so the following images are going to be some that I had worked
on in the past. As soon as I have myolder stuff up, I will post more of my newer stuff.
This is a 3D model I made a few years ago, I keep it around,
because I like the way it turned out!!!
This is a WaterColor painting that I scanned in, but haven't
modified yet....oh well maybe someday I will get around to it!
Clouds! They were intended to be used as a back ground
in a production team SHORT... not sure what ever happened
to the final video...... Anyways, I have it set up so there are
5 seperate layers that can be animated seperately to give
the feeling of the clouds drifting by...
Concepts for the same production SHORT...
OK, this is a really recent sketch... I have been doodling celtic
knots and went in my own direction... I like how you can modify
the designs to make boarders and boarder embellishments... this
is going to be used in the corners of a painting i am working on.
These are some environmental sketches...
This one is a 3D concept of an underwater 'tree' that sustains
life within the little glowing 'bubbles' that are attatched to the limbs...
This is a model (can't remember who modeled it) that I
painted a texture map for...
This is a really bad model of a house I did (with many variations on lighting), but I liked how the lighting and fog turned out....The crappy model is the main reason why I stick to the painting part!
And the rest of these are just random sketches....
OK Well I am gonna call that a SUPER SIZE helping... more later!
Thanx a bunch for checkin' out my Sketchbook!!!!!
8) COME AGAIN SOON!8)

Nice way to start off a thread. You do seem to have an eye for color and mood. The only crit I can offer is that you need to spend some more time doing life drawing and anatomy studies (but can't we all).
Looking forward to seeing more from you.

UPDATE!!! June 11 2006
Ok here are some more of my older pieces... I will post new as soon as I finish them... I am one of those people who have multiple projects going at once....
This is a variation I was working on of a different type of fairy..
this one i was working out different wings..
This face and the cat right below it were done by shading the whole page a solid mid-tone and then erasing out the highlights and darkening in the shadows...
I had a thought of combining a cat and a dragonfly...
different version of a cat with wings...
just a dragon doodle..
This dragon was a sketch for my son.. i ended up blowing it up and painting it...
The boy and dog in this sketch was to show what the 2 characters looked like for a mini script/story I wrote a while back...
CatFish... self explanitory....
quick sketch of one of my cats...
another cat completely symetrical...when I sketched this out I was kind of thinking TATTOO.... but I never had it done...
Bobcat done real quick with the lift out, watercolor technique..
cat with bat-type wings... I like the concept of a cat with wings, so i keep trying different types..
Again...playing with different fairies...
Well, I hope you enjoyed my update, my next one should have some of my new stuff!!! ANYWAYS....til next time...HAVE A GOOD ONE!

jeez, LOTTA sketches I agree about the anatomy studies but either way your stuff looks cool, plus theres a lot of it so you seem very consistent which I think is great and something I need to work on keep it up!
June 12th, 2006 #8
Kvick~ thanks, and yeah anatomy is an ongoing necessity... i don't get as much sketching time as i would really like but i think we all feel that way...
anyways.. the next post will have the image sizes worked out so they aren't so large and they will be newer pieces....thanks for coming by.... and i will check out your work soon!!

I really appreciate the feedback on my sketchthread. You really hit me with some solid criticisms. Some of that stuff you commented on is a couple years old now, so I hope Im a little better at the PS Painting now. I should probably post some more current paintings.
Great to see you working so hard on your own pencils and paintings. Some real nice work! Very nice sketch thread. Keep going!

Hopefully this is a palpable size!!
OK! This was done in Photoshop 7.0 and all of the elements are on seperate layers (as if it should be done any other way... NEVER!!) It is intended to be the background for a short animation (delayed, but getting back into it) it is also a small portion of my DEMO REEL (which I need to fix OY or UGH!!!)
SO, after this I have realized it is REALLY time to REVAMP my demo reel and portfolio.... OFF TO WORK AND TOIL I GO!

Hey, "Skrunchey!" That cat head is awesome. And I like the latest painting with the fireflies--it's real moody, but there's not much atmospheric perspective to speak of...what if the background faded to a dark blue, and the [tree roots?] got ever so slightly bluer, the farther back they are into the distance?
Oh, the catfish is cool, too! Keep it up!

Just a very quick blurb...
I have finally got my personal website up, and slowly getting "finished". Some
of the links are still under construction, and I don't have "art" up yet... it will take time, since I have sooooo much stuff on my plate at the moment. But I have been managing to get something up on there "done" on a bi-weekly basis, which is a very good sign of accomplishment.
and as soon as I am finished with Summer Quarter class planning, I will post up some long awaited artwork.
Tiegrob~ if you read this, I am so totally jazzed to get into environments, so those will be flying out first!!! and I am almost happy with the storyboards I have been doing for a/the historical montage... it has been gnawing at my brain like a rabbid rat... so I throw some stuff to the paper to appease the little monster!!!
Thanks for reading!

Hey, and I am totally jazzed to see what you've come up with! I hear you on being busy - I don't think I've drawn anything for over a month. But, soon the overtime madness will end (end of July!) and I'll be drawin' again...I got some character design to do.

So scan your summer quarter work already!
Let's see what you've got!
