    Start with:

    - a pencil
    - an eraser
    - a piece of paper
    - something to look at to draw

Just take the first step, you can only get better from there

I can understand why you want to be an artist. But a drawer? Are you gonna sit around holding people's socks all day?

    hehe,don't worry,we're just kiddin around.
well,a good place to start is just, pick a pencil, and tons of paper.
start by searchin this forum for "loomis" downloads(forum search should get you some results),and when you have his works,go through everything he mentions.
take a good look at the tutorials section, start an online sketchbook(if you have a scanner),and let other users guide you.
but as said, most important, just draw DRAW DRAW!
    good luck.
