Blue's Sketchbook - Update with every reply
Been having a ton of trouble to build up enough content for my personal page. So I figured, maybe i can get some good ideas while working on a doodle section to my site. Not going to dump all my old sketches in this thread because... who likes old stuff? Instead, i'll just be adding new doodles as I draw them.
This is the first sketch. 10mins in painter.
Just finished watching some Naruto, and drew a portait of myself (in that cartoon universe).

hey Marco! I'm workin! I think i'm going to try to make time to do a sketch a day now, just because line sketching is so much easier (faster) for me then painting with mass.
Here is a new one. A dino skeleton? A demon? its something...

Nice, I like your sketches thus far. Nice and crisp. I looked at the skeletal demon here and thought about what he would look like with flesh and I think he would have really boulbous eyes. That what I get from an anatomical standpoint. Keep up the good work!

I was lucky enough to have a very cute girl model for me tonight.
I'm going to take this sketch and use it for a painting, probably my new project. Once done i'll post it in the finally finished section, till then, more sketches coming.

Here is today's installment. Calling this one "Was she really that bad?"
May 17th, 2006 #7
Thanks Hypronost, i decided to do today's sketch with mass instead of lines, as you suggested, just to spice things up. Same amount of work in this as the others. Not sure where i was going, but it came out kinda fun.

Been suffering from creative block for the past few days, i finally forced myself to draw SOMETHING just so i don't go rusty with my rendering. I doubt i'll finish this drawing, i don't like it too much. Doesn't help i don't have internet access in the new place i moved into, but i am hoping to do more work soon. Going to have to find a new source of insiration then other artists on CA, it seems.
Anyhow, here it is.

Hehe, I'm a naruto fan myself. Been a while since I watched though.

Keep em comin.

Here is today's sketch. Had a bad day...
June 2nd, 2006 #13
Two sketches for today. In a much better mood.
First sketch is a study of a traditional chinese dragon. I'm going to be drawing a tattoo for someone and needed to learn the style. It came out very modernized compared to the traditional stuff, but the traditional stuff has some funky anatomy, and i think its throwing me off. Anyhow...
And a quick one for fun of a female character, pardon the mild nudity in this, i usually don't add that detail to sketches.

Today's installment. Just working on the design of the demon for my tattoo a bit.

Thanks for the comments guys. Anatomy is something i try to put as much effort into as i can. I'll put some more focus on it in my future sketches. Some of these were a lil wonky.
Here is a picture i decided to drop here, simply because i don't consider it finished, and have lost will to work on it (today was the day where i said enough was enough). I had intention of adding a background and a lot of interaction but...after spending so much time on the girl herself, i simply can't look at it anymore. (ps. nipples and vagina are left out intentionally )

you got a nice style happening, but try and study some anatomy- it will really help with your imagination stuff. also, maybe try to work some darker tones into your sketches, id like to see some more finished pencil work keep it up!

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. The one thing that I can't do (yet) is be imaginative. You've got a great thing with concepts going for you, and if you work hard with your foundations, you'll go really far.
Cool stuff so far. I like the chinese dragon the best!

Lovely stuff Lord Blue! \m/
I really like the puppeteer although the sinner looks a bit rigid.

Absolutely no inspiration lately. I just.. can't seem to draw anything. *sigh*
Well this was a forced drawing, so maybe it will help me get back on track.

Corky, i may pick her up again, i was thinking about it today. Major downtime was needed since i burned her into my skull, hah.
Well, all apologies for not keeping up with sketches, i've been working 60 hour weeks lately at my summer job.. so drawing time has been cut down. Here is an old sketch i picked up and finished. I'm content with it.

Ohh wow.... I REALLY LOVE your style man. That succubus, and the devil with the puppet strings, and that first ninja all make me so happy... but that dragon in the blue pencil is unbe-fkn-leivable. It's got so much depth for just sketch and it's eyes are gorgeous.. wow.. Your stuff is so inspiring... Crits wise that demon guy reaching out of the paper.. his tail doens't look right (the one in blue pencil) The lines look less defined.. less real then all your other stuff.. I'm not sure how else to explain it..

Yeah, definatly some really nice lines - especially for computer work. Good solid color work too. Looks like there will be some cool stuff poping up here in the future. I don't do this often, but I'm subscribing to this thread

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Here is something different from me. Took a swing at a simple landscape. I wanted to go crazy with it...but i deceded to leave it as a sketch and get to work on my homepage for the day.

Here is something cool you guys might like.
After the fire demon i finished the other day, i sat down and tried my hardest to draw fire...to paint fire.. its such a pain in the ass, honestly. Well, i made a post in the painter forums after i had an idea, and after a day of playing with settings, messing with variables...i have a fire brush!
If you use painter, have a blast with this bad boy!
This picture was done with the brush in the zip file. No other brushes were used at any point in time. Also, the colors in this are the same which come with the brush, so you can't go wrong. Its a simple brush, but it is rough to use. It lays down color based on pressure, blends based on pressure and fades transparency based on pressure. Almost everything this brush can do, is up to how well you can manage your wacom pen. So you may love it, or hate it. In any regard, with this, you don't need to do anything but maybe adjust the size to draw fire effectively. Even if it needs doctoring to get 100% smooth like fire, this brush lays down a very rock solid base.
