I recently discovered the found photo community on livejournal.
There are some incredible photos in the gallery, ranging from the 1920's to a week ago. Most photos are posted with the backstory of where and when they were found, all in all, I was very inspired by what I saw and wanted to share!
Some of my faves:
Makes me want to check out estate sales and antique shops...
Reminds me of Found magazine. They collect all sorts of found things. Notes, lists, photos, drawings, anything that might be of interest. They've got two books out, Found and Found II. I've got the first one and it's really cool.
makes me kind of sad at how everything's going digital now- I've found dozens of similar photos when I've been out and about, and it's always interesting to me, even the most mundane things... but there's going to be less and less as technology expands. Something about a physical, tangible thing that beats seeing it on a monitor. Oh well.
Thanks for sharing, awesome stuff!
I agree 100%. A few people in the community found some digital prints outside of their CVS, but they weren't half as amazing as some of the aged vacation photos on there. There's also a hugely romantic part of me which loves the mystery behind the people in the photos - did they lose the photo by accident, was it put onto an estate sale because angry siblings wanted to forget the memories?Originally Posted by cotron
There seem to be regular updates, so I subscribed to the community. I think the WWII pilots with the tortoises and the bride from the 1920s absolutely sold me on the whole thing. Man...
That site is a goldmine.
Here's another one you might like. The pictures aren't old, but they're really random... foundphotos
