    Plagarism

Seriously why do these people think they can get away with it. I mean in an ideas creation occupation what do people think they will do if they get a job by using other peoples work.

At least he didnt post copies of fengs work here i guess 'jago' knows hes a member. Hmm i wonder if feng has lawyers, pretty good ones i would imagine.

i dont know what the procedure for this is but i trust someone will sort it out.
Right i feel pretty wronged i think im gonna throw up on behalf of artists everywhere.

Umm this is sad in a way, I mean i remmember the "thief" thread, that case was funny, and the Marc Maggliori ( if i remmember the name correctly) case was amazing, but in this case, i can only feel sorry for this guy, and hope for him to stop thinking that he can get away with stuff like that .

why!? Don't people realize if they'd ever get a job that they'd have to do original work?

The first one looks like a joke thread... And everyone seems to have fallen for it...

The second one is VERY, VERY, VERY familiar... I remember seeing that in another forum but I can't remember where....

The best thing about that first thread was this guy's avatar:
    Plagarism

    Totally busted me up.

Oh. We're talking about plagerism. Yeah, that's jacked. He should have known better.

Dont know if I told this before, but when I was getting my graphic design degree in Stockholm, whe had what we all thought was a great illustrator in our class. He was amazing, and did really cool stuff. He also entered different competitons and wont hem, and had stuff published. Fx he won a VIP card design contest for the trendiest club in town. Turn out he was ripping off everything he layed his hands on, particularly Ashley Wood, and other design greats. Just scanning htem in and using them. Does anyone recognise this fx?
    Plagarism

Anyway he got found out, by the fact that the Art director for a comic book publisher was flicking through his portfolio, and noticed that one of "his" pics still had Ashley Woods signature on it!
Still. hes now working as art director for swedish magazine MOORE. He also won the illustration and print award KOLLA! last year with a complete ripoff off an exhibition catalouge froma pair of british designers (I forget the namen now...)
I fucking hate his guts, because everytime Id ask him how he did certain things hed just lie to my face "this is a new technique with ricepaper and oils" etc etc. Still hes managed to weasel his way in to a job.

Kresh, there is a big difference between photorefs and ripoffs. I personally have no problems with your example (and as we all know, everone thinks like me)

As long as something is added to the mix, photoreffs are very usefull.

I love how art theft is dealt with so swiftly and publicly. Some people really seem to think they can do stuff like this and still get away with it. Dumbasses...

Aside from the amazing avatar i think that my favourite part was his excuse

'yeah ok i copied it as a test' ahem

'Im never going to steal a pic from a guy like feng zhu and try to get away with it in a proffesional manner am i?'- wasn't that EXACTLY what he just tried

    'no big one!' -hmmm

Very true Tim but you have to realize that someone did design that costume for him, I have no problem with photo ref either but the similarities there are just too obvious in my opinion. Just wanted to throw some nostolgia in here.

But as for the six key hijacker CTRL-A, CTRL-C and CTRL-V; Man I get so pissed when i see this shit. Especially when you read when they explain how or why they did these designs or say they arent too happy with it now, and then ask how they can make it better. THE FUCKING NERVE

This guy must have been an assborn baby.

EDIT: Oh yeah maybe we should pay a little visit to his thread and show the shit he posted on here to show his other "tests' that he did.

Photo ref is one thing, ripping someone's concept and passing it off as yours is entirely another.

It wouldn't have been a problem if the offender had cited his source and said he was doing a study or something like that. That's a normal and accepted student practice.

However, again, the problem comes from claiming the work as your original concept or idea when it is not.

As for the photo ref above with Kyle Reese, I don't see the real issue with that because there are enough differences (and even if there weren't) I think we all get carried away with photo ref every now and then.

I would have no problem with it if only he would have prefaced his post with, "I'm about to show you my copy of an original, and I'm doing it just for practice..." But instead, he's like, "Tell me what you think of MY art."

Metal Gear is wacky with their stuff. I think they just like to pay homage to old 80s American action movies. I mean, the guy's name is Snake Pliskin, which was the Kurt Russell's character from Escape From New York. But, they definitely shouldn't just rip off a pose from a movie and steal the whole costume.

And what exactly is being done now that it's found out?
    Anything legally or so?

Your OWN photorefs are useful. Stealing from someone else and sayin, "oh hey I added 3 extra belt loops, I changed it!" isn't kosher. There was no reason that the Metal Gear artist had to copy that picture so directly, when getting a photo like that would have been really easy.

Something like that happened to me once. I made a set of forums about the Dino Crisis games and this person called Mary deleted my account behind my back and stole my ideas. The sad part is, she claims to be 40 and married.

Meh, to my knowledge I havent ever had anything stolen, but who knows...It would really suck, but I rest assured that for the small tidbits of attention they might recieve..sooner or later someone's gonna find out and bring it public and make a total fool out of them..

More than anything, I SPIT upon art theft and plagarism! what a horrid act of stealing someone's imagination, tis nothing lower! BLA!
