Hive Mind: I knew you would love my balls.

trooper: Thanks for the kind words my friend.

Ahem, i'm at a crossroads in designing this pick and i would like you people to give me some input. Do i go with version 1, 2 or somewhere inbetween. Don't be shy now, i know you guys have an opinion. Let's hear it!

sexy! man you´re really into the figure. rock on Id say!
bout the concept from above, I also prefer no. 1 because of the detail, but I think I like the pose of the 2nd one better = mix em…
    hope you´re doing fine

    cheers

great studies on your lady's, I like the opaque brush work.

I think that version 2 reads better at the moment, but the pose looks a little bit stiff and it looks like he's falling backwards (...about to jump in vers. 1 ?). Design wise I prefer version 1 tough...

ps, I love your high key landscape painting on page 5 <1

Thanks for the input fellas, i decided to go with a mix of the two. Still lots of finetuning to it which i'm not in the mood for, but this is largely going to be the pic. I also have a few old designs i've been redrawing which are also far from where they should be. Any remarks on those? Yucky pose or something?

Just awesome stuff really. Those nude paintings look like a sweet exercise of picking up lighting skin. Which sites do you use for reference? Keep it up.

SamC: Um, it's fairly easy to find that kind of reference if you dig around the net, but at kindgirls.com and some of the sites it links to you can occasionally find stuff that's a little, er, classier than most.

Here's a SP for weekly challenge and another, er, referenced pic.

    Hello there for a while

Your digitals are getting more solid, so are the characters, the way they contain different shades in clothes. Stronger contrast make them more interesting.

    Beautiful as ever

zoe: i've done some Bridgman studies before, but i agree that i could do more.

Nettle: Glad to see you back, i'm glad you can see improvement. Must be doing something right eh?

Trooper: Acrylics yes. I'd rather use oils, but i've no separate room for painting and they stink up the house so. I do have some oil SPs from a portrait course i've been following. (Learned the trick with the green there, you should try it) I'll post them when have them here at home.

And this is pretty much all i did for myself. Goofed off for a while there, too tired and too lazy. This is pretty much as far as it goes for this pic, it's almost gotten too stale already.

Walid: Thanks for the link, i think i'll check that out. Most of the time i just tend to wing it when it comes to composition.

Quikenobi: thanks man, i really want to do something with that one, just never seem to get eound to it.

Maxetormer: Glad you like 'em! Now if only i were in a painting mood more often ...

Anyway, we had this challenge were we were going to focus on sketching and this is some of the result:

Big R-R-Respect for the amount and quality of sketches here, i really liked the dogfaced guy with gun and jumping girl!

All i can really critique is two things, the left leg of the dogman is little flat, should it be more foreshortened? dunno

Second thing is that then and then you do legs of your characters little airy, what i mean by this is that they stand on the ball of their foot (is this the correct word?) instead of keeping the foot completely on the ground.

Where to use this and where not is yours to choose, just observation

The girl with the ray gun is great, totally frazzetta like.. the dogfaced guy reminded me of El Incal...

but what i really like is the jumping massive fat guy n the bottom of the last page xD

Trooper: Thanks man, you know I love you too

Nettle: The feet thing was conscious, but i'm in two minds about it myself. about the dogman, i think there need to be more folds there, where the knee pushes against the cloth. Good call.

Quikenobi: Damn! Here i was thinking i could swipe from Jodorowsky and have nobody notice. Bad thinking there. And yeah, that girl is a hat off to ole' Frank and the whole pulp fiction thing.

WhiteC: thank you, the lines are that impressive? They could fool me.

And here's some more harvest from the challenge. The inking was done yesterday though, so that doesn't really count. Sorry about all the boobies people, it's the lecher in me making me do it.

You know, i really, really wait for you to master your digital rendering because what you have now is phenomenal core drawing skills developing there. I don't mean completely accurate and lifelike rendering of every detail but style, dynamism and imagination, the stuff that really counts.

I honestly think you should force yourself into reqular digital painting exercises, like doing little 20 minute paintings 3-7 times a week. reqular work no matter how little every day is key to success here... i cant really explain it why but it is really more effective than using 3 hours into one painting only one day a week.

you have it easy in a way, like coro said it once the drawing stuff underneath is the hard part and once yo get into it you will see that rendering is actually, really easy.

Ha, right now we are opposite mirrors, i struggle with bettering my core drawing skills while you have some work to be done with digital

well, end of rambling, sorry if i feel edgy with my suggestions but im just so taken by what you have done here that i feel i must say this to you. I feel that once you get seriously into digital we have to witness really interesting paintings here. over and out

Nettle: Well, to show i've taken your advice to heart, here's a start on digital exercise, feuturing two charming cabaret girls. I'll try to make this a daily thing, or at least as daily as i can muster.
