The "Chicks Who Draw Chicks" Calendar - CLOSED - All progress moved to Girls Forum!
The Official Conceptart.org "Chicks Who Draw Chicks Calendar"
What Is It?
This is a chance for the girls of conceptart.org to create artwork to be published in a printed calendar!, to be released for the year 2007. It's a fantastic way for the highly outnumbered lady-folk here to get some exposure, make contacts with eachother (though thanks to Magicgoo's Thunderdome, I am already familiar with many of you!) and above all, for us make kick-ass artwork! The calendar will then be sold online or perhaps at workshops, generating funds to help maintain the website, fund scholarships and future workshops.
Who Can Participate?
Anyone without dangly bits! Seriously, this is a girls-only project (sorry guys, put the wigs away). Chicks of all ages, skill levels, orientations, colors, shapes, sizes, condiment preferences and shoe sizes are encouraged to participate! The enrollment period is now over, no more entries are being taken - so let's get to work, ladies!
What do I have to draw?
The calendar is loosely based on the idea of a pin-up calendar. Your piece needs to have a woman as the primary focus. You can stick her in an epic battle scene or drape her half-naked body over a lazer gun pointed at earth. Please keep the theme of your piece rated PG-13, since the calendar will be seen by minors and other small humans. Since this is pin-up inspired, I also ask that you keep a positive, sexy light on the women in your pieces. Your definition of sexy can be as unique as you are, just make sure you have fun!
-Any medium is acceptable except for photography. Shamelessly sexy self portraits are encouraged!
-You must create new artwork for your entry. Old pieces of art will not be accepted!
-Dimensions for the pieces has yet to be determined and won't be until a format for the calendar is decided upon! Odds are it will be a vertical rectangle sort of shape, I will have specifics as soon as I can. But one thing is certain: BE SURE YOUR FINAL WORK IS NO SMALLER THAN 300 DPI!!!!
How Do We Decide Who Gets Printed?
A panel of independent judges will determine the top 12 pieces to be printed in the calendar. 12 additional smaller spaces on the calendar will be given to the runners-up!
This project is going to have a deliciously long deadline. Entries will be due JULY 31st AT 11:59pm EST I do not expect everyone to spend each day of the 2.5 month period on their pieces, but I am expecting finished works. And I mean finished - none of that "I started mine 2 days before hte deadline!" stuff here, unless you're superwoman and work exceptionally well under pressure.
Please keep your sketches and future WIPs a secret from the whole of CA! There is a girls-only forum which you can gain access to by sending a PM to Davi. There will be a thread in that forum for WIPs - we have to get eachother's backs!
SO! I will divide you ladies up into seasons (assuming you specified one!) over the next few days. I will pretty much do it by first come first serve - those on the bottom of the list will probably get their second choice Those who didn't specify can do whatever they like, so long as they don't decide to do a very seasonal-looking piece in the end.
Thank you ladies, and good luck!

Hi! I am interested in participating! I really don't care what season I get, but I suppose that summer is my first choice, followed by winter.
I am very excited to see what comes out of this project, it should be really fun!
Thanks for the opportunity, it is about time that the girls get together for a project! ^_^
Updated! I'm so glad you ladies are psyched for this!
lilschecky and ladylioness: Please remember to PM Davi for access to the girls-only forum! You can post your WIPs there and join the virtual skins vs. shirts pillow fights with the other lady-folk here
I've sent out a batch of PMs, asking some nice folks here to be judges. However, I realize that all of the judges would be male by default, since all of the ladies I can think of are competing. I was considering letting a few ladies, who have been in the business, be on the judging panel, each reserving judgement on their own entries. What do you guys think?

"See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna staht doin some thinkin on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certaintees in life. One, don't do that. And Two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a fuckin education you coulda got for a dollah fifty in late chahges at the public library."
So just to clarify the purpose of the 1st & 2nd season choice... upon the cut off for the sign ups (if any?) we will assess how many people are competing for each season, and if there are too many competitors in one season, then some people will be moved to their second choice right?
I see that there is a deadline for the final entries, but I don't think I see a cut off date for final applicants. Just wondering if there is one, since it would be hard to gage how many people are competing for each season, and it might get unbalanced, if for example, there were a lot of late joiners close to the deadline who wanted to compete for summer pages... it would seem we would want to make sure there is a fair amount of people competing for each season early on. I don't know, but in my opinion I think there should be a cut off date.... but maybe at this point it is not yet determined.
