    contact & project management software?

I'm looking for a software to keep order in my contacts and projects.
like grouping contacts in "friends", "clients", "possible clients", "gallerie contacts", etc. and managing time and finances in commissions and projects.
a newsletter feature would be lovely, too

I know some of you guys are doing illustration/design/web design kind of jobs. how are you doing it?

or what software does your company use?

    ACT! looks pretty good?
but before spending money I would love to hear more about this or other (maybe free? ) tools!

    thank yooou!

Outlook (not Outlook express) is good to file your contacts, set your appointments and send yourself and other people tasks.

For more complex stuff I like building a database in Lotus Approach but that's a bit more complex.

well you havent stated if your on mac or pc so i dont know if this works for you but i organize all more complex design projects in Omni Outliner. it costs $30 or $40 and its designed to draft to-do lists, create agendas, manage tasks, track expenses, take notes, plan events, write screenplays... all that stuff. its really flexible and i use it for brainstorm sessions as well. not always of course, but when you have a lot of points and sub points that i want to write down and reorganize and have to show to client etc, i often use this.

my contacts i could also put in here but i havent done that yet. now i just put them in Address Book that comes with the mac so that i immediately have the info when i want to mail. i can put company info and comments in there etc.

    hope that helps.
