Ok, so for the last two weeks I've been missing either a computer, internet or a scanner. If all goes well, I'll install my scanner again tomorrow though, so look out for updates.

I'm such a filthy liar. Aww man, now I feel bad. That settles it though. No time to wait for my new computer. I'm installing Photoshop tomorrow and I'll be updating.

    Watch out world, I'm back.

    Whoo, update!

Alright, the first and second image are just for fun. The third image, titled "Vyenna - 1", is a character study for a comic me and a friend are planning. Actually we're still just throwing ideas out there, haven't started writing the story or anything yet. But I think I have this character pretty much worked out. The first of four main characters.

[edit]: whooops, one of them pictures was a little big... I'm gonna fix that now.
    [edit]: Fixed.

1: Vyenna v1.2 - Just can't figure out her top.
2: Vyenna v2.0 - Same character, different outfit.
3: Hmm, what can I say? Stupid anatomy.
    4: Selfportrait: Eyes.

Hai the eyes on the last one are so much better than the previous one. It makes all the difference, and since i can see you have been studing them it looks like it is finally paying off man. I haven't yet had a chance to do this myself BUT i have noticed when i have studied eyes that, just as the eyeball disappears under the bottom lid, there is this thin line of reflection, almost white, the seems to make the iris disapear behind it WITHOUT actually touching it. I think it is because you can see the thickness of the eye lid.

Maybe you can see if you notice that too in your studies next and put that into your next pic as well!

Good stuff man and thanks for the kick up the arse too!

    Whoo! Comment!

Thanks for the tip, man. I'll look out for that. For the last few weeks, we've been doing portraits at school. Right now we're doing one in white clay. I'll see if I can take a picture of that and upload it. (Maybe this weekend.(No promises, though.))

my latest project. This is supposed to become sort of an inspirational piece for the concept-art department working on Manapunk - a project to make a free MMORPG. Trying to work a little on this every day. I've started coloring a bit, but nothing I wan't to show.

Scene: Female Human fighting Male Orc.

I love the hand drawn eyes you did, Very detailed. The digital self portrait looks great too-- better then my first attempt with a wacom. I think the more your practice, the more you'll come along. Thanks for trying to revive the SSG. I will try to update when I go on holiday, and I will definately comment. Such wonderful stuff!

    Hey! long time no crit

The portrait in clay: Nice handeling of form and good balance between realism and stylizing. Especially the lips have a very pronounced form. The background is interesting too, not sure what it means? It's a SP, isn't it?

But, as a sculpture teacher, I would say, why dit you choose to work in relief? Was there no other way to make it more 3D? It looks like you translated a drawing directly into clay. Not that that's bad or anything, but you could challenge yourself at that point.

http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...&d=1163432636: Good hatching here! But you could have drawn her hand

    # 47: improved lines! quite a diference with your older drawings in here. But vyenna doesn't show as much charachter here as in your previous post.

Last post: becoming more diverse, dynamic. Studies are always good.
Hope you can keep this pace up it's worth it!

Thank you so very much for the crits!

As for the clay SP (yeah it was an SP), it was a school assignment and had to be relief. I'm thinking about doing more analog 3D. According to my teachers, and my grades, it's what I'm best at.

This is just plain cool! I am loving what you are doing with that fight scene that you are colouring! Your anatomy studies are really paying off.

You know that Vyenna pic? It is just screaming 'ICE FREEDOM FIGHTER' to me. Somewhere in the artic, most likely in Russia, that's where she comes from i'm thinking! Also in that pic, i can see that maybe you are on the verge of leaving your 'beginner's eyes' behind. Keep at it. i know i'll be keeping an eye (yuk yuk) on it!

Speaking of assigment i am about to go talk to somebody at a local college to ask about my options for studying art. I am quite nervous. Not quite sure why. grrr wish me luck man!

Also i will be sharing this with just about everyone i know because i just think it is bloody awesome when ppl like him devote their time to help others.

    Thank you, thank you!

Good luck with the college thing! (Man, I'm so inarticulate, aren't I?)

And the site you linked to looks awesome. Probably gonna sit up all night with my essay on ancient greece though.

    Todays update:

I want to do the cape really saturated and bright, like in the movie Casshern (if you haven't seen it, see it! It's awesome ). Not sure that's gonna fit though. We'll see when the rest of the character and the background is done.

    Daily update:

*sigh* I messed up that last composition when I cleaned up the lines. Got a new idea though...

As for todays Vyenna, this is so out of her character. Somehow she went from "ice freedom fighter"* to "ice queen villain".

*I really connected on that, thanks PJ. She was originally designed for a desert surrounding, but she really does fit her new description better.

Mission: Make a full 3d sculpture of Vyenna.

Weaponry: FIMO modeling clay, tin foil, metal string in various thicknesses (sp?).
