best provider for a small website

    hey folks

since hours and days i m desperately looking for some decent webspace. i
tried googlepages first. but found out that there is only a stupid editor which
allows you to change stuff like the font and generously lets you choose
between ten different layouts. i wanted to create some a bit more personal
webdesign in frontpage and upload it to googlepages but google does not
allow that. i tried to cheat googlepages and simply copy the html code
into the googleeditor but it works with very stiff layouts and it does not work.

ok i gave up on googlepages

next try was yahoos geocities. i remembered that some years ago it was no
problem to directly upload your site from frontpage to geocities. now there
is a stupid editor which allows you to drag stuff around but without any
    organization.

what i need is some webspace for free where i can create my site with a
good editor (preferably frontpage). does someone here has a personal site
for which he doesnt have to pay? which provider do you use? any help ?

    thanks

You can get VERY cheap pages easily.... I've been paying I think 6-8 dollars a year, plus 10 or 20 dolars to get the domain name in the beginning. I'm currently working with the bluedoorhouse who was advertising on here who do free websites... I'll let you know how they are when it's finished.

    hey glikster

thanks for the help. bluedoorhouse has its own thread now so i ve got enough information about them. my problem is that the website im want to build isnt just a simple portfolio site, but it should also include music (between 5 and 15 songs) and other stuff. i also wanted to design it myself.

    any other suggestions??

If you would like, you could use some of our (My Girlfriend and I.) webspace. We are already "hosting" saiko x's website, and there are like 5 gigs of webspace. You're more than welcomed to if you don't mind having "Http://www.r3fracted.com" in front of the webpage name. So it might be "Http://www.r3fracted.com/-PageName-.html. drop me an e-mail if you would like . if not, best of luck in your search .

the easiest would be myspace...if you want music and images hosted, plus editing the site yourself, aswell as the extreme visibility that myspace would offer you, then that's the right way to go. many artists and bands have their own myspace website.
    cheers, n.
