DSG 1060: Sci-Fi/Creature: MECHANICAL BULL (an actual robotic bull, mind you)

[ So... this is not to be the sort of mechanical bull that one finds in modern country western establishments... ]

[ ... Rather, this is to be a rather fully-realized bull made of mechanism. ]

    [ Cheers! ]

Built to explore the intricacies of Orca life, The "OLE-1" has been designed to mimic a young Orca bull in the hopes that it would be able to apporoach a herd, without fear that the local bull would try to hump it

Awesome topic today, I love everybodies submissions so far!

Goran - really like seeing you use the traditional media

carfax / drago - sweet choice of color

    Hamsta - nice interpritation

about 1.5 hours - pen, marker, and a little PS color... I have missed the DSG!!

Seeing how impressively you've developed your skills over the past months, especially with your shapes and forms, makes me wish I had continued to diligently do DSGs!

Some great worx here again. Like that last one Rob-ot, though i think his legs look a bit too short.
Also like Gorans, carfax and Yaso Kuuhl pieces.

    Bit late

    Toro

I should be asleep... but instead I looked for another excuse to practice my rendering.

I didn't do any of the usual thumbnails for this and instead just kept my pencil really loose for ideas.

chaosrocks - I thought also about this bull from the fable. I remember that in Poland his name is Fernando, and I remember that he likes smelling flowers and prefers this than fighting. I even started to look for this old book with this story but haven't got any idea where it could be now.

but my bull it's not Fernando , it's some another bull

Hello, all! I'm cross-posting this from my sketchbook thread, since I'm trying to make DSG subjects a part of my daily sketching routine. This is half an hour in Painter 8 using the basic round tinting brush. Great stuff, everybody!

rob-ot Nice details, good lineart quality, good use of greys... are you formally educated? are you working in the field? looks like the first, and you should be the second
The red bg works well to show off the bull, but It's a little distracting, with the random strokes. The ass of the bull is kinda iffy, is it trying to dance? Not a good idea for something that heavy

BlackLion Direct sideviews aren't very interesting, and despite your effort to create motion, there is something inherently static about it. I'm also not really feeling the mass a bull should have, more of a skinny, long version, on little legs, which look about as adequete as the spear the guy is holding
Keep practicing, and don't despair from anything I say

Jeroart - very nice - you get my vote for meanest bull!

Idiomatic - simple and very cool!
