judge fairly? Hey, dont need to worry bout age/experience, these are critique threads, not bash threads, so again, you wont need to worry bout that.

As for the images, try to upload them to a site like: photobucket so you can show them on this page. Not a bad start! Just keep drawing from ref, and work on value a lil more.(I need to work on that too).

As for a present, I'd say the 1st one.

Great start dude, keep it up! My only gripe is that I'm not sure if your mom would really want a picture of naked women for her birthday? I personally know nothing of her, but if I gave my mum a pic of a naked chick for her birthday, she would be like..... why did you give me this? Perhaps you should draw a still life of something else instead, perhaps of something she has an interest in, i.e a musical instrument, food, ornaments etc, something that she loves.

    Cheers.

    yay again thanks

yeah, so something more proffesional to give her would be the flowers and the Famous statue thing..Not a naked women. (dont forget, artistic nudity is for children!

it is good that you are starting young. my suggestion is to get a few figure drawing books and start reading and copying from them. what i notice here is some funky proportions, heads look really big, but for your age not too bad. keep practicing.

Damn you have so many visitors here I should state that I'm 12 also, in my scetchbook-title

Well, It's really good that you are starting at such an age, when you're my age, you'll already rule the whole world, if you do it right.

Key is practice and patience, watch for your weakest points and work on them. Right now, it's proportions, I guess. Loomis is one medicine I'd suggest for you. Keep rolling man!

well, the reasons of being into an SSG is to get more crits, so If you cant
stand em, you shouldnt join any SSG, cause they are there to help you!
well, the most different thing of being into an SSG, is that you will
got more help from the guys into the SSG!, of course more ppl may post there! but MOSTLY from the SSG!, and that grants you help!
Wich was the reason I joined SSG17 wich was the newest 1 p ½ month ago

I'll recall the rules for scetchbooks: "2) Don't make "bogus" posts that are meant to "bump" your thread to the top of the list. We want art."

I don't mean to diss you, but when I see you comment in your SB I expect to see some pictures. Only 2 of 9 comments of yours contain pics. Try to use this as a mean to improve and draw every day and post it. It doesn't need to be fancy, hell I'm bloody mediocre but at least give us something to look at, please.

  • GREAT female drawings rolo!
keep on them, well, those first ones are blurry as hell, and I can see because I know what it is since before, but I doubt that someone else can figure out..
so Dont take blurrypictures, or blur them..
    http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e5...o/DSCN1865.jpg <<<---IS GREAT
but please flip your pictures before uploading, wich makes it easier to read,
lucky I am , that can flip my monitor 180 degress
BUT I doubt most ppl do that, if its not hte best thing they' seen in their life! keep ruling Rolo, your doing great!

Looking good, you've come quite far in a very short time.

I'd have to say, though, it isn't that important how old you are. Just do the best you can, and practice all the time, regardless of everything else. I've found that when I compare myself to others based on my age, I'm making an excuse to not push myself to the fullest. Work hard, and everything else will fall into place. Everything else is irrelevent.

    Hey kid

remember no one here or anywhere can teach you to draw. We can only help you teach yourself (yep, 'nother mentler quote). Listen to guys like Matt Smith and them - they know what they're talking about.

Get to at least know your basic bones and anatomy for now - your pics so far show little evidence of these very basic structures like the ribcage.

The most important key to developing is enjoying to draw. draw everyday all day. draw with pencil with pen with chalk with pastels and watercolours with oils with acrylics with anything that can leave a mark. Get this attitude, and you're on the right track.

On what bhanu said: don't just accept harsh crits, embrace them, appreciate them. Harsh crits are the most valuable ones.

Good to see you both so young and so committed. Keep us updated on your progres!

    - d.

So you don't try environments because you hate them. And you hate environments because you're bad at them. And you're bad at them because you don't try them. See the cycle here?

If you're bad at something and hate it, that's even more of a reason to dry it. Don't fear failure. Failure is just an opportunity to learn something new. Good artists don't fear failure.

Draw things you find intimidating and hard. I used to be horrible at hands. So I forced myself to draw only hands. I drew pages and pages of hands, and it was agonizing. But now I'm good at hands - and I even enjoy drawing them because of all the work I put into it. It's easy to fall back to our comfort zones and never take on new challenges - but that's no way to better one's self. Have some courage, and tackle your fears head on. When you look back on all the progress you've made, you'll be happy you did.
