    good Medical anatomy book?

    any suggestions? looking for a serious medical anatomy book showing insertion points, muscles, bones, tendons, etc. etc. illustrated and/or actual photos.

    Try Grays Anatomy. Thats good for that. Though to learn anatomy from an art point of view Loomis is much better.

    Sobotta Atlas. Recommended 100% over anything else, at least in terms of medical content. Great books, clear illustrations.

    Sobotta sounds like just what you are asking for, but if you want something that is written with figure drawing in mind, take a look at Human Anatomy for Artists: The Elements of Form by Eliot Goldfinger.

    It fits your description but emphasizes the muscles you actually see and has loads of good insights into their surface expression. There are also quite a lot of medical sites that might be useful:
