Why Wire? Wire Not?
My name is Kate de Jude. I have been making wire sculture for 18years. From the humble beginnings of stick figures I am now creating intricate woven sculptures which I love to gaze upon afterwards as if I have never seen them before. From the early days I have taken the sculptures on the streets as a form of busking; this helps in that I earn money while I am creating the sculpture. I have returned to busking after some years "with a haircut and with a real job" (read bureaucratic). I have been keeping a blog of my experiences and the people I meet on the street. I call it "A Study in Human Nature and Animal Behaviour."
Some of my sculptures have an adult theme and to view these on the website one must sign in, follow the links to the Busking Blog and the Sealed Section.
I have this year published another website of international wire artists. As an Australian wire artist, I thought I was alone in the world until I discovered wire sculpting has a rich and glorious history and a world wide community of wire artists.
