(EDIT: the unlimited bandwidth for my external image hosting has expired, so I'll go through here and fix some of the links. I would just let this old stuff go away, but I guess it's interesting to see the way things change over time, so I'll keep some of these around.)
Naturally, check the end of the thread for newer work!

sweet stuff John, now I think you've inspired me to make a post as well, if I can figure out how to use photobucket
Well look who decided to show up! This is going to be a kick ass thread, and now that you know know people are "looking over your shoulder" at this stuff, I bet your gonna work even harder. I'm looking forward to what you come up with next. I dig the character silhouette thumbnails especially. And thanks for the advices.
Don't mention it... always willing to give advice to those who seek it. As artists (especialy the commercial kind), we take a lot from others in the learning process, and its only right to give as much back as possible.
Those character concepts are some sweet action! I digs. With a big fat D. In a good way. ^_^
*big ol' thumbs up*
very fun stuff here, love your captain and madhatter concepts

One more thread to see everyday,Its great to see good artists but half the favourites on my toolbar are sketchbooks and this thread is also going there.
This is amazing. Thanks for posting. I love the clean lines.
Thanks guys. Delighted to be an inspiration to anyone out there that really cares about art.

johnny boy! cool mate, glad you got on here, theres lots to learn on these forums. Drawings are progressing well. remember though, the 'go draw lots' mentality that they are trying to engrain into you will only take you so far....
Fun to see the old gang in your sketches. Hope you guys are chasing your dreams and actually learning something from the A-Bot.
Yeah, I know what you mean. There are a lot of totally appropriate ways to approach art, and the "go draw lots" way is only 1 of them, and it certainly isn't going to get you everything. Settling down and focusing is a little tough right now... hopefully in the summer I can really dig into some of the things I need to work on.
Oh, and on that note, there are is no such thing as a perfect school out there, so to a degree, it's always somewhat up to you to learn what you need to (In the case of Mr. Ben Mauro, I'm preaching to the choir...). I'm sure there are plenty of artists out there that all feel like they're not learning fast enough, but that's just how it goes... All you can do is your best, though. There is always going to be someone out there who is better then you. And another thing worth remembering:The top of the art mountain isn't where you find happiness...so don't worry about being the best. Just focus on using your art to say what you want to say. That's my 2 cents anyway...
A few more SB pages for tonight...
