right... time for a fat update. I have been very inspired of late and have been learning some pretty useful fundamentals at the ashtons art school here in sydney. Lots of cast drawing and stuff. Anyways, I think something in my way of painting has kinda clicked now... im starting to think far more from big wide strokes, big value areas etc to smaller ones later. Painting is so much... simpler now! So much less fiddling goes on once things go down in a useful order.

These all started as studies to get different lighting moods, but after the first couple, I changed the aspect ratio of the picture so I was composing a new image in the light of the reference. Thats mainly in the spikes one. They are in order. Pretty much 30 mins to 1 hour 30 mins I tried to keep them to.

Sweet. Liking the style a lot and good solid grasp of fundamentals all around.
I assume these are digital? How did you do the trees behind the scarecrow?

    Thanks everyone

D@niel : Thanks more comin soon hopefully.
Verehin : Again, thanks, will update more often I hope.
[void] : I was inspired by the gazillion studies on minyums site. http://minart.net/studies/
    must... work...harder. haha.

Toastage : Yeah... I do like snow too. all form and lighting and nothing else.

Miles_ : Thanks... Atmospheric is my favorite word.

Kristo Novo : Thanks. Iv become more aware of brushwork since iv started working traditionally as well. Really helps the digital stuff!

wilkerson : Yeah, all PS. With trees I started in bg with lighter trees, made a selection that felt the same shape as the reference... the same kind of rythms and feel and then I painted with a scattered brush I made that looked like branches. some areas I painted/drew like trunks and silouette areas. Just study life and find a way to make the brush do the same rythm/pattern/feel by drawing or sneaky brushes.

CamSyko : No worries. Glad to be helpful, hope not to be confusing.

lefran : Haha... the more you use it the more it will come through. I dont think you need any o my mojo, girl, you got some serious personality of your own in your work. I love yer stuff. Keep it coming!
