Any interest in a VECTOR-only challenge, maybe in April?

I need to get back in shape artistically, and I'm thinking a challenge of some kind...BUT...considering how you guys normally work, I'd be remiss if I didn't piss off as many people up front as possible at the same time... I hold "enjoying myself" in high regard...

So...is there enough interst (or enough people doing it) to accept a challenge of some kind in mid-April using ONLY VECTOR apps? If you're interested, post here. If you have any particular theme you wanna suggest, go ahead. Just be aware that I'm not letting any diaper-wearin' piece-o-cake ideas get very far though...

Any art done must be created as pure vector art, then converted to jpg for display here without any ADDITIONAL work except slight color correction if it's needed...

I think I might be artistically masochistic...

    I'd be interested.
No clues for a theme, though.

    i'm kind of interested.
although, i'd likely have my arse handed to me.
but heyyy, it's worth a try?

spring quarter starts on april third, and i'm taking three art classes and a chemistry class. so, i'd try to fit it in.

and... i don't have any brilliant ideas for a theme, sorrrry.

I'd be down for some graphic action, but I still utilize photoshop post-processing on every design. Are you planning on keeping it 100% vector, or broadening the scope to become more of a graphic style of image with the main focus on vectors? 'Cause that's just how I roll.

OOooh, I didn't know you did vector stuff, Ilaekae! Awesome!

I think I might be up for this if I haven't signed myself up for too many challenges already. Haven't done vector in years. (Used to work with it daily at my old job.)

    Magic' I was a vector specialist for 0ver 15 years...Started with AI 1.x

Strych9ine, you're gonna have to leave your nice smudgy-wudgy tools behind. This is gonna be one of those "I-gotta-fuckin'-plastic-spork, show-me-where-you-want-this-Hoover-dam-thing..." that seperates the grown-ups from the diaper set. Just for the record, I generally work like you now--plotted, drawn and colored in vector, finished in PS. That's why I want to do this pure vector, just to teach these painty boneheads how to do it when they forget their little paintbox...

BTW: I'm going to hold this off until the girls get their challenge done and there's no other major challenge in the works. I'm guessing mid April at the earliest. I wanna see what the "pros" here can do after somebody pisses in their paint box...

    so what's the topic ilaekae?

I'm pretty stoked about this lil challenge:

And Strych-dooooood... maybe the push / pull tools within the vector programs might come in handy???

You know how it is, I'm a texture and ink blot . We'll see when this thing gets going, I might have time for a pure vector fest.

I'm interested in this. My old job was pure vector so it would be good to use it again.

Hahaha, you guys LOL-killme.fh11! I used to use illustrator, but then my nefarious, nefarious employer erased my memory and retrofitted the .ai shortcuts with VINTAGE .fh11 ones. If a program is perfect, why would you ever change it?

With the two calendars being sorted out, and the chick competition going on, I think I'll wait til around the middle of April to post a list of topics and the rules to give everybody some time to breathe...That way, we can start the competition around May 1. Anybody have any problems with that?

Maybe it'll give you geniuses time to figure out what a bezier is...

Question: with regards to turn around time, what are we looking at here? Will the winner receive an Ice Cream Cake?

    i might enter this one,
but i do my vector stuff with PhotoShop.
is that alright, or is there an "illustrator/freehand/flash only" rule for this?
plus, is there a theme already?

Chuck, mate, the PS vector tools are okay, but you're gonna have to be careful not to forget and switch without thinking to some PS brush or such.

Around the middle of April, I'll post a batch of themes for a quicky poll and the rules. Right now, I'm trying to find out if there's enough people interested to actually go ahead with this. I'll probably post a message in the lounge in mid-April, too...
