    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.

    Hm... Hi, my name is Daniel Kim and It's the first time I'm opening a sketchbook here. I want critics about my work, so I can grow up as an artist. I hope to help you guys in some way as well. I'm a little intimidated to post here, since there are so many awesome artists here and sometimes I don't know what to say.

    +Don't forget to check new drawings in the next page.

    @Recursive End
    Thanks a lot!
    I'll certainly try your suggestion in the next sketches I'm going to do! ^^

    @AnimeMator
    Thank you very much. It's good to read that.
    I wish good luck in your journey! ^^

    Well, I'm going to post a finished work here, it's a little bit old to be submitted in the 'finished works' section and I would like to receive some crits about it. I'm using this painting style since last year and it was really fun to add that kind of painting to my drawing style. I want to develop it more.

    And here we have a very rough character design sketch for a comic online thing.

    yeah, tou like BIG boobies, don't you?
    I like thise one http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...d3/rockman.jpg - ooks quite realistic and have nice colors
    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...3/d06f3eaf.jpg - here I like color range you've used... it seems to be ok.
    I won't say anything about manga style... I don't like manga so much
    P.S. using textures is really simmple: you have to take a picture of something simple, without big contrasts (for example look on www.maps.google.com and choose "maps")... then coppy that on your work in Photoshop or Painter, and change layers options (mulitiply, color burn, linear burn etc.) it gives fantastic and easy effect

    @Katsgod
    Thanks a lot! ^^

    @Kei-th
    Thanks, man! Well, my intention was to create a semi-realistic style mixing anime and realism features, but not all of them... I mean.. I have a lot of influences that doesn't come from manga and realism only... I wanted to melt things and create my style that way! I know it's weird, but I like it! XD~

    @PartyButt
    Thanks a lot! I'm glad that you liked this painting! ^^

    @Denysiuk
    LOL! Of course that I like BIG boobies! They are a very fun feature and I think it's easier to draw too...*is the lazy ass artist*. It's a pity you don't like manga very much, but I understand your point of view. The Rockman doodle is my normal drawing style with an wannabe realistic coloring. I'm glad that you liked this drawing. Thanks for the comment and the tips of the textures on PS! ^^

    @Unknown_Epiphany
    Thanks a lot, man! I have copies from Loomis' books here and all that, I just have to stop being a lazy ass and practice some more anatomy and stuff! XD~

    @Cold
    Thanks a lot! ^^

    @Steinspinne
    Thank you very much! I'll definetely do more paintings like that in the near future.

    --

    Some character sketches done in 15 minutes, more or less, because I was really bored yesterday... I did with a ballpoint pen in white paper, so I couldn't erase the mistakes and stuff... I still have to learn how to draw without an eraser... sigh... so it was done this way on purpose.

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    I think I didn't show you the first sketch for this character... well... it was very rushed and I didn't make some details like the rest of his shorts [Is that the right word for it?], but you can see it here.

    The big head strikes again...ugh... but I liked it. Hehehe.

    Maybe I'll post more later.

    Yeah you better check mine. Nust kidding with you man lol. Your heads in this last batch seem to be pretty good anatomically. All i would say is watch out for the skull you seem to be making yours a bit too small. Ill see if i can do a redraw one of your sketches to show you.

    That would b very helpful, man! Thanks a lot! ^^

    @Xaya
    Thanks! ^^ Yeah, I didn't used references to draw that nose which was my mistake. But I've learned my lesson,er... more or less... XD being lazy doesn't help, but that isn't an excuse, so... I'll try to pay more attention. You did the first request! Cool!

    --

    Well, I have a sketch that I did in paintchat showing some interaction between Shadow and Aoi, since I didn't have time to draw lately, because I was organizing the party to my youngest brother, I'll post it here.

    It's very crappy as you can see... sorry.

    And here we have some older work that I wanted to show.

    A comic page from a story that I'm planning to do in the future.

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    A fanart for my favorite singer, Utada, I used references but I got bored in the middle of it and didn't used references after that. I think It was my mistake, because she doesn't look 100% like Utada.

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    Another Utada fanart and this time I tried to be more realistic, but... I've failed. I can't draw real people very well. I tried but I left as it is now.

    And now the last chara design for my comic on-line. Finally.
    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.

    Now I can begin to work in the script and the environment.
    BTW, I'm open for drawing requests! ^^

    That's all for today.
    See ya!

    The two Utada pictures are absolutely beautiful. The blue/purple one has actually made it's way onto my desktop as a new background.

    I hate to just leave an asspat post, but I honestly can't find anything to crit in your recent works. The only one I have issue with is the color study that you admitted was done after a two-week lay off, it has some obvious anatomy issues. But other than that, great stuff. Keep it up.

    Niiice. Your character designs are pretty cool, and I'm liking the black and white comic page. The last couple digipaints of Utada are pretty awesome.

    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/...3/d06f3eaf.jpg
    This one I think is pretty washed out. I feel like you could push the values more, and the color scheme seems a little whack (green/yellow and skin don't tend to go too well together, typically). But aside from that, nice composition, and nice forms. Not a big fan of the yaoi look, though, personally.

    Great stuff! You've got an "anime" style that feels like your own. The eyes especially are very unique. I really like the sketch of the guy in post 12. It has a lot of character. Great digi-paints too!

    In the first few posts, you had some nicely drawn anime style faces, the the faces don't seem as strong as they are in your more recent posts. Also work on drawing the human body some more....that area isnt as strong as your faces. Keep on posting work.

    Thanks!
    Well, about Riku I'll see what I can do about him! XD

    @Marjolein
    Thanks a lot, Marjolein!

    @Steinspinne
    Thank you very much! ^^
    It's good to read that. Today wasn't a very good day to draw anything. I hate rainy days! I get depressed and stuff... =_= but yeah, although I still have anatomy issues to take care of... LOL. Your comment made my day! ^^

    @LotekK
    Thanks, Tekk. I'm glad that even with the fact that you don't like the yaoi look of the style... you've took your time to analyze the sketches and paintings! ^^ Well, about Naturalle, I dunno I used these colors, because I thought they looked good. I have two versions for this paintings, actually, and I dunno why I didn't like the first one... that green version, which was the second one, seems to be more dramatic and dream-like to me.

    @Omarschildren
    Thanks a lot! ^^

    @GHill
    Thank you very much, Ghill! I always put more atention in the eyes and expression of the characters, because I want people to feel what they feel... principally the sadness and the pain...*evil laugh*... that wasn't funny at all... XD~.

    @Unknown_Epiphany
    Thanks! I'll certainly dedicate myself more. Today wasn't a very good day to draw, but I'm going to post what I did anyway! XD~ I have to get used to draw everyday or I'll have serious problems... -__-.

    --

    I'm embarassed to show these drawings after all the good comments...

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    I've tried to do some gesture drawing randomly just to get ready to draw som more and after that I felt a lot of difference in the way that lines are flowing. I think I'll do more gesture studies this wednesday and this time a more organizated one. This is very messy...

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    Just a random comic page with tons of mistakes!YAY! XD~

    Devil's Sketchbook [Soft nudity] - Updated almost daily.
    A character design for my comic on-line that I redid, because I wasn't satisfied with it yet. I think it's much better now. I wanted to give a more androgynous look to the character.

    All drawings were done with ballpoint pen without pencil sketch, except on the third sketch. I spent 10 minutes more or less, except in the gesture drawings... each one of them were made in 1 minute more or less. No references.

    I have to comment in your sketchbooks yet.
    I'm sorry that I didn't made that yet, but I'm going to do that as soon as I can... I just need some sleep now. LMAO. It's 02:32AM and I need to wake 07:50AM...yeah... >_<;.

    See ya!

    your anime work is nice, though there is nothing that seperates it from other anime style drawings. i feel that your strongest work is the utada portraits, particularly the second one with the red jacket and green bg. a nice mixture of traditional painting/american comicbook/anime styles, and one that looks more original, fresh, and more like your own style.

    i would encourage you to work more that way, unless of course you want to do more anime stuff, in which case you should stick to the anime but somehow try to make it more you and less cliched.

    good stuff man, keep on keeping on.

    draw!

    Don't feel embarassed. The gestures have a nice, loose feel to them. I particularly like the cat in the upper left hand corner. He looks pissed.

    There are a few anatomy issues with the angel, particularly with the legs. They feel a little too small for the body and I'm not really convinced with the way that they are attached that they could actually support his weight. Same problems with the arms. (Too thin.) The face in the lower left hand corner, though, I really like.

    Keep it up, man!

    yea i like your progress, theres just one little thing at the moment that id like to see you use more, is feet and ancles. If you could upgrade your knowledge on that, that would make my perfect pic for me.

    who knows! u might create the best fashionable manga boots around!

    Thanks a lot, Kyi, for the comment and visit. I admit I'm still developing my style with all influences I have and I'm glad that you've liked these works, but I believe that I'm in the right path. I'll study hard to change your opinion about my style! ^^

    @Eva
    LOL. Thank you, Eva! I'm glad you like the boys I draw! ^^
    I really believe that practice and dedication can lead us to succeed in what we want. Manga was my root and I can't let go of it, even if I drew in a more realistic way I would put elements from manga, hehehe.

    More sketches... YAY!

    I was thinking how these characters would look like in the future if they end up together. LOL. But I dunno... if they'll end together or not. Both of them are very moody and they would fight all the time probably.

    Some girls sketches based in a photo. I redid a sketch from Aoi, but I draw him a little bit older, just to see how he would look like in 5 years or so, and I added more details in his clothes now... U_U-. The bald guy was random.

    Almost all sketches were done with pencil and ballpoint pen.
    Hm... I wanna try differente medias, but I think I'll do some coloring practices now. It has some time that I don't color anything and I don't want to get rusty.
