[EVIL's_SketchBook]{13th of april} Work doodle, and another zbrush doodle [pics, 28]

There yah go, I finally started a sketchbook thread of my own. I will post a sketch or whatever in this
thread daily! I am sick of my own laizyness not making the time to draw and improve and learn, so
this is a way for me to try to change!

anyway, I start with a WIP, this is a Samurai mecha wich I createdas a concept for a race that
decended from humans, and there is a group in their culture that walks around in these huge suits day
and night - note: they don't sleep in them tho .

As you can see @ the scale, these guys are quite big.

Here is today's sketch.. I kinda got swept away.. when I wanted to test some stuff on him,
so yeah, not finished, its an underwater creature and it lives on the same planet as the
    above mecha suit thingy..

the bird things eye is IMHO too comic, not real enough plus it's kinda behind the eyesocket

the highlight thing you got going is good, but i would like to see how you deal with a fully renderd image, how you add the highlights... because i can guess it'll get pretty "shiny"...

    lovely brushwork my friend!

    thnx for the crit m8
I'm gonna defend myself here 1st this is IMO a sketch -
second, If I would put this fellah in a scene, it would be underwater,
where you simpy don't have such sharp reflections. so if I would render
this guy out realistically, I would'nt have given this guy so mutch
reflections and highlights, but because this is a sketch and I wanted
to show the material and its supposed to be a bit wet above water I
    added these specs of highlight.

good crits tho! thnx! keeps me on my toes when doing this stuff

one of the sketchpages I did today covering the arms of that mech I posted in my first post.
They are very thin, with armor shells bolted ontop to give them some mass, and the abillity to hide
items. I was tinking about an exiting way for him to take his swords with him, So I decided to attach
them to his upperarm, the piece is customizable and can be replace with 2, 4, 6 or 8 attach points,
thus carrying up to 8 swords per arm

Another fun addition are medium sized razor sharped blades that are attached on the edge of the
sleves of the kimono, so he can cut you up pretty bad if you come in range of the end of his sleves

I'l wasn't able to scan up the other pages, I'l do that tomorrow

they basicly cover the arms, the skelleton underneath, and some pattern designs for his clothing.
and a sketch of another design. since these are fully customizable mech's that the warriors
build themselves (similar as in the jedi building their own lightsaber) they come in all diffrent shapes
and sizes. I still have to invent a name for these things. But in a nutshell, they are the tools of a
samurai, evolved into one piece! from their armor, to their swords, its all combined in one gigantic
    suit.

Good ideas behind the mecha. Good thinking on the multiple hidden swords.

Very interesting. That sea creature is kind of believable, strange but not extreme in any way.
Only thing is that the top of it just looks like something useless, like a hump. Maybe if you made it more aerodynamic (aquadynamic?).
I'd like to see something more like a jellyfish, just to add more dynamics. Fins on the head maybe?

    But I'm le tired...

I wanted to post this, altho its a couple of month's old
I am very proud @ this one and some who went to the prague workshop might recognise it. It won me a
degenisis book, HELL YEAH! the contest was to design a game character, and I won with this design
    (marko and coro judged).

@ Lunch - hmm good crit man.. its its head.. but indeed not very recognisable. I kinda wanted to make a
featureless head, with a chrome metallic like surface on the face area .. fins on heads are kinda cliché
for the head of a sea man.. .. you are corret tho, it needs something more, something to enable the viewer
to see it as 3d, to know what he is looking at.

Really digging that Prague concept, no surprise you've won. But then again, you have a way with Mystique troughout your work.

hey EVIL long time no see...nice sketch book.

for the samurai I would make the metal plating on the shoulders more ornate to match the boots, right now it looks a bit too dull, that's my only crit.

really like the way you do highlights...so smooth, I can't remember but do you have a tutorial/process thing around?
