I was continually awed as i looked through here. One thing i noticed though is that you tend to overwork your long figure drawings, and the 3-4 hour ones look less finished than the 30-60 minute ones. Great sketchbook, and i look forward to more!

Nice work man, looks like you're really getting a good grasp on the interplay of light and shadow... very crisp renderings.

Great how you're varying things. A little looser from you and tighter from me and we have a match (what did I just say...).

Is the work in progress from life or is it a copy?

    Hello Ammo,

Very nice updates, I think I get more inspiration seeing kids get better than looking at pro works.

Nice study on composition with light!

Just a quick question and answer it when you have time.
(I'm planning on devoting 3 months studying the Vilppu dvd's.)
My question is what was tackled first basic procedures or anatomy?
And for how long did it went on ex. upper torso (1 week?)

Sorry for the bother but I just need info.
    Thanks!!

P.S. Lucky you on studying with Kevin Chen in Jan. Although in the site you gave me Vilppu and him are not teaching there in the moment?

    Love to see more!

hey what great and lovely sb...very decent. your studies are looking good. i love toned paper too. but i don't know where to get them ( or i am just a lazy buttass ). cool lines, nothing much to crit for me. those look for me like pure and true drawings. what should anyone critizise then.

Thank you all so much for your comments! I really appreciate it.

Matsign - I donnot attend a college I study and work at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. I use a lot of reference and work a lot from life.

Bard - I haven't studied Vilpuu's dvd's. I studied with him at the American Animation Academy for a 5-day workshop and I learned a lot from Glen. His work is more of an emphasis on structure and form. It's especially useful for animation
when you have to create characters from your head without reference. I couldn't tell you exactly what he teaches on the DVD's in particular but I think if you took the time to study those DVD's for three months it would bend your mind to observe more accurately and just generally improve your skills. I hope this answers your question.

Pennington - Yeah actually this update was when I went to the beach with friends and drew them and other beachgoers.

Oma - Lately I work a lot with that recycled off-white paper. I believe that is what you are referring to, it is called Mother Earth i believe, i really cant remember and ive actually been trying to find it. And pencils I use regular number 2 pencils with white china marker for whites, or i may use conte charcoal.

these are drawings of my friends from life

I really like that third sketch in the last post. It's not just gesture. It seems like there's some really smart expressive choices behind it (I may be floating my own boat - I do). I wish you'd added some white hightening for what off-white paper affords.

your lines are nice and loose and your sense of light is great. working on perspective in your quick sketches migh help you with movement and gesture.dont get me wrong tho - impressive!

hey ammo I just want to say I just joined conceptart to learn from other people and I am in my second year in college and I want to become a artist just like everyone in this great site, please don't take this the wrong way but seeing your work (which I may add is amazing and even more because u are so young) gets me on a big down, I almost feel like I am not going to make it because people are so good and make it look easy, but anyways back to your drawing they are great keep it up man ^_^
