hey, wombat? I have an idea - can we try to recruit a coiuple more people to our SSG? I know I have been away for a while, there seems to be only a few left who are active, maybe a couple of new people would help to boost the flow a bit.

i wouldnt know where to post for that, but i thought i'd ask ya,

    just an idea,

    cheers,

Awsome updates. I'll get to commenting on all of them when I am able to get back on again. I expect you to have doubled the sketches by then.

I'm not going to be gone long, just long enough to let my system realize that life can exist without conceptart.org. It shouldn't be more then two weeks, (let's see if I can last that long)

    Have fun.

ooh like the chess models! is that....FOAM CORE! lol.... thanks for the crits I have to make a mug, utensil, and plate by tomorrow and I will definitely keep them all in mind. I'll be sure to post them asap...
Oh and its good to hear about the figure drawings, I already have some hogarth books and Im really trying to draw a lot more but all of my other more useless classes get in the way...just scheduled for next quarter and i've tested out of math, history, and english (yay for APs at X) so Im taking fdst 3 for space, digital, and drawing and im taking art history and economics intro to start lightening my load for next year...i will definitely be drawing more then since the workload will be lighter...ill keep posting my work, im really likeing the CA community, everybody is really nice, its great to see...

Nice toy stuff man, I think Im gonna put my toy render, (the Masquerade action figure) into illustrator...or C4D if I can figure out the suit...but I like the eyes on these toys, even the robot has very luminous eyes. They all look like you just need to put a base block of color behind each one...i don't know, to me it seems like they are just floating on the design page....but still very cool.
Btw, there was a girl in my class who made "crackhead furby" as her toy....and nixon was laughing rather awkwardly...but it was so well rendered she couldnt put the picture down! Ha, go figure?

@Ryan: thanks man, trying not to think about it until sunday night

@leedy: they weren't particularly well thought out graphic design wise but oh well, you can get away with a lot of stuff in nixon's class if you can render well

shinny spaceships and some doodles, scanner raped the contrast

wow, great sb here. You got some pretty tight ships and vehicle designs, very nice. Hehe I also like your little skull dudes. Would be nice to see some studies, life drawings, and what not.

Q-Caddlewick has informed me that we are going to be merging our ssgs. Thats cool, let me know when I can change my sig and I'll do it. I'll also be sure to come back here once in a while.

keep up the good work dude.

I always love it when you color your ships

that sketcher thing is fun, i've already wasted too much time in there. It's a good way to meet people though.

Your ships in these last couple posts are getting really clean and, i don't know how to say it... uh... good, i guess. Your lines are looking great, yeah thats what i'm trying to say. You have a lot of patience to give each one such a finished look. That comic is killing me, I want it to look good so i'm taking more time that i usually do. Actually I spend more time one each page I make. So I guess I'm trying to say that it takes me so long to do my rough stuff that to see your refined space ships is cool to me.

(did I get the sig correct?)

@Reed Davis: thanks man, you need to start a skechbook thread too

    @Wake101:
thanks, life drawing is always on my to-do list but gets bumped off for some reason or another, will put more effort into getting some done

@Q-Caddlewick: thanks man, the comic looks like it will come out nicely if you invest the time and the sig looks good

i have been slowing down as it is finals week(s) oh-noes

    Ha ha ha.

Want to here some irony? The first thing I noticed on your tc piece is that the sand looks a bit.... flat. That sound weird coming from me, right? Ah oh well. Other than that interesting idea. I like the hairdo

My excuse for the poor quality of my tc piece is that, I did it in a half hour from 12:30 - 1:00 AM. I wasn't even planning on doing one. Heh, shows how life doen't always go as planned.

Keep plugging. Don't stop drawing even if you only do a little each week.

oh yeah. bout time your sketchbook got some bling! well deserved bro. seriously, before you know it you'll be kickin' some ass if you keep cranking at this rate! you're anatomy is getting better and you're starting to think about contrast with your drawings. your design sense is improving. you're style is developing. everything is looking good. breath in, thats the smell of progress...

some class renders, hpx ripoffs during a painter demo and doodles

Doubly cool helmets. I like the one on the left. Any inspiration for those or are they straight out of your head?

Sweet! You actually built it? It looks like a photo to me so thats what I'll assume. You forgot to mention "some assembly required".

    Interesting colors on the digis

Your right I do need to play with custom brushes, You are getting cool textures here.

Wow there's a lot I missed since I last posted...but coming from the show tonight got me in an artistic mood....As always, the spaceships rock, its nice to see them becoming more developed and from more angles, you are really getting a major hold on spaceships...Is there something in particular you are drawing them for? Also love the space helmet renderings, great realism on the light...Finally its cool to see those pictures of the robot...I went back up and read the caption on your ideation renderings and lost it! I didn't even read that it was a soviet union bot...lol nice one john...u and the soviets...

    BTW....bleach....http://www.blackgoku.com/anime/bleac...1bleach075.jpg
I know your idea was original cause I saw your process and bleach is so awful I wouldn't expect you to have even seen it...but it is a LOL when you look at the picture....

Haha, you know what? I watch bleach sometimes, and love reading the books and I never made that connection! I guess that means that Wombat's are good and original, or I'm just a few steps away from being retarded. Though I'd rather not speculate to much on which it is.

    @Spats: thanks!

@Q-Caddlewick: did build it (photos below) but those are 3d renders done in solidworks and maxwell.

@Leadster618: the soviets and i have a long and distinguished rivalry going on. the spaceships are just for fun/class basically as long as i draw halfway decently, the professors don't care what i draw. and the bleach thing im just going to chalk up to coincidence, they were pretty ripped off but more from redbeardead and myasaki.

robot model in action! (apologies to 56k)

and some quickly looking photoshop that took entirely too long
