Self portrait in acrylics on canvas board for my painting class. Point of advice for those few taking Art Fundamentals at Sheridan College: if you get Bobbi for painting, change classes.

Some experimentation with more aggressive painting, a more painterly style and a lot more exploration into colours. This was done on a 12x14" piece of gessoed masonite using only a 1/2" flat brush to push me to paint loosely and concentrate more on shapes of colours areas, things like that.

Comments and critiques more than welcome.

    hey

OK Jp.,,,, really like what is going on in the back ground( atmosphereic perspective good) creates a center of focus on the face. The face is looking flat, needs form-try to do a black and white painging or just a value study drawing. Really look at the values on your face, their is a different value / color for every plane on your face. With acrylics work dark to light( glasing medium works great) their is more color in your face then the ones in paintings. And the eyes are like footballs really learn how the eye works. this is a great start with acrylics just keep working, I still suck at them I just started to get confortable with them so keep working hope that helps

Elwood: I agree with you completely about the colours. There needs to be way more variation in the local colour. I really need to take some time and experiment and explore with colours, because I didn't really get a chance to in class - I can't say my prof discouraged it, but she gave you a hard time about the stupidest things.

The eyes, yeah... the eyes were a big screw up.

Glad you liked the background though :3
