Shishkin is the shit. he's spelled Шишкин btw if you want to search for some images of him online, got some nice shots for you too:

    http://www.artlib.ru/objects/gallery...ry-10004-o.jpg

also, if you like Shishkin you'll definately love Kuindschi too, he's pretty awesome as well while having less detailed landscapes perfect for studying! He's spelled Куинджи:

    http://lh6.ggpht.com/russkajashkola/.../Kuindzhi3.jpg
http://lh6.ggpht.com/russkajashkola/.../Kuindzhi4.jpg ( that pic is awesome, the scan is shit thoguh. Very impressive to see in person)

Sorry for the ref-bashing haha! Those studies do look pretty awesome though. But i think you could push the saturation in some of the greens even more!

good man but honestly I am not impressed with your last portraits
there are a few things I noticed just on this last one
-the eyes do not seem to be on the same plane, and they are not focused in the same direction.
-the nose looks okay until you get to the nostrils, the way you rendered it makes it seem like a flat plane with holes punched into it from the underneath
-the lips are not centered to the face, they look okay if you only check them to the nose, but to the face they are not centered.
-also the ear seems just a tad high

just a few things, sorry to be critical but ya it was on my mind and i want you to improve. just keep it up and dont be such a stranger

gorgeous colours on that last on man, nice comp too. judging from ya self portraits, i'd say you need to work on contouring your noses and mouths more, they look a little shapeless. oh, and congratulations on getting hired, looks to me like ya deserve it, ya must be ridiculously excited.

your enviros are improving like crazy, that's so encouraging to see.
and th last character is real cool indeed. only thing that bugs me is the head being a bit too big. but maybe it's just me.

Hey little buddy! I am so proud of you! This is the start of a great thing amigo! So you get paid well? or at least so much that you can make a living? I hope so anyways 'couse this is so good Where do you live by the way? I like to map out where good artists live around Scandinavia! I might have to track you down one day for some, at this point, obscure reason

Now onto what you need to keep working on. First of, if you are gonna do industry stuff, rendering is key. Now you dun need it to be all super detailed, but make sure you have at least one focal point that you lead the eye to by using both saturation, contrast and detail. This will make your stuff usable, and make sure you don't have to use forever on a piece. A good example is the ink and guache stuff that is done in the White Dwarf magazine. Those are insane!

Do more figure studies. Try and get up an hour earlier each morning and get onto pose maniacs. If you get an hour on 30 seconds you might pull out 100 studies in a morning, including saving breaks and bathroom runs and such. This will make poses and such sit much tighter.

Your colours are for the most part dope, but be carefull of using the eyepicker carelessly, it might upsett the balance, and make things flatt and boring.

You are doing so well! Keep at it!

Also, self education is a hard way to go, so keep an eye on future places for teaching, if that should appear

For now, keep rocking, really get stuck in with art and just keep improving!

    -E

    sweetz =D

and tbh, share those 'keys' on value and color ;D
also, your stuffs seem to become more solid, more rendered out instead of some quick color slaps you did in the beginning, so thats defenetly a huge improvement.

    keep on going:ca:

Nice sketchbook here. I think you should take your studies further, add more detail and look at specific light effects and stuff.
    this ones nice.

the portraits are decent but underblended. I suspect your opacity is set too high. if you lower them you can get interesting layering effects.

  • thanks guys! I'll be working on your points for sure..

heres some quickies.. mehh.. I have some serious problems with those color-profiles in photoshop.. seems there is no way to get it back to default, so everything is turning out very dark after i've saved it.

The last one is looking so sweet
I love the way its like choas brought into looking like something
It also has a very nice mood and feel
The colours come together very nicley and i like the yellow because it adds a hot feel to it
    Crits?
Well with the piece maybe am just noticing too much but to the right hand side at the middle bottom theres greens and reds going in a line... their
    distracting other than that awesome

I like the technique used in your video!

You could always reset photoshop totally.
Hm I could help with the colour profile or whatever is the problem. The problem is that you're working at another colour space than you're puting out your images in.
