I love that monster with the teeth in teh grey tones. rawr. chomp chomp. It looks like a Dinosaur Yak. It's the only thing I can think to describe it. I'm trying to learn a bit more on creatures myself so I'm highly enjoying flipping through sketch books like yours that give me an eye on other peoples creative processes for creating creatures from life references. Thanks for being one of the many inspirations here.

Damn you even have people who think you are an inspiration( see above) hehe dile has some fans

anyway i was thinking aout our art and ways to improve ourselves and boost our creative radius and i had a brilliant idea
Each day we should set a topic( we will call it the daily creative idea generator) and and draw it to put in our sb's
some examples may be, cat smoking a cigar, or simply a portrait from no ref, or a creature with tentacles.. We could write up a list of ideas for the week..

Its all about filling our repetoire of things drawn, the more different things we draw, the better our imagination can stretch and to give us motivation to try something new

    hope your interested

Hey Dile, thanks for dropping by my 2 sketchbooks .

I could say something totally cliche like " work on this and that", but then I know you know what to do, just have plain old fun .

Wow, more great stuff again, and so fast! One thing I really envy about you -> You get so much more play in your drawings and paintings than I do. The last couple of paintings are really nice. Great clouds too.

Thought I'd make myself an entry on this new page.

Ksama is once again right - looks like he really knows his shit. Use your hatching to tell the viewer whether something is round or flat or curved, organic or inorganic. Check out some of Mentler's drawings to see some juicy sweet examples of this - really something to study. Getting good with traditional stuff will improve anything you do digitally threefold. And the more you do it the more fun it becomes.

last OC session looks like fun. @GuitarJames: if you keep erasing your buildingblocks you wont have anything to build with. Can't learn from something that isn't there anymore.

    ciao dude, cya round

James: hahaha it was fun doing that session, but yeah listen to what
    d' said

Demented: Mentler is for now the only artist I have at all been able
to draw and study of,his stuff is amazing, and I would still have my
page1 anatomy left if I wouldnt have been brave enough to study his stuff
he really got his own directory on my desktop and its getting bigger..
so yeah I love mentler, no doubt, but I will check out his shadeing,
also those other 5 rated artists, always something to learn now
when I will actually GO studie em ;P thanks for your words
    D' you are always welcome!
Im thinking of (after browseing several threads here at CA) that
I will let go of all my digital stuff for now, and try to take
care of my dear pencils a little more.. as blanquish said: my renderings are
quite good, and whats good isnt in biigggg need to practise on, so
yeah I will do more pencil work from now.. or non-digital.. school
starts soon and I will be able to do some traditional work.. damn
I see how lazy i hve been those 7½ weeks already.. my goal
of summer was 15 pages... and I dunno how im gonna make that out
But thanks for helping me with it ciao!

Hey dile, good to see youre cracking out those pencils again
I totally agree with what demented has to say
If you check my sb i have 2 portraits that use this technique and it requires you to think, and almost draw in polygons (youll see what I mean)

Mentler does it well, I tip my hat to him, the ulmighty bone doctor, and Killing people and steak tron have some great hatching techniques
So I reckon you should pull out a pecer( mechanical pencil) 0.5 is the best and something like hb because it doesnt smear which happens a lot if you use 2b or higher.

looking back at the bottom of page 12 at your pencils, and i see it needs a lot of work..
Restart drawing by doing some basic techniques, like rendering a still life or just trying out some shading techniques.
Do some real life studies, Do some ref studies, do some imagination stuff and of course do some anatomy studies

all the best with your pencils
