Monotony at its best ---- Oct 7th

    update 02/12/07
it's been more than a year. please go to the last page to see recent pics.

    Hi everybody,
I'm new to this forums (well, found it some month ago) and the great pictures and sketchbooks posted here were the inspiration I needed to finally start drawing more seriously. I have always enjoyed drawing but never really practised. So this sketchbook might be the first step to keep at it.
Unfortunately I only have limited access to a scanner so here are the first pages of the first batch i got digitized

hands with my own as reference except the shaking ones

    feet with photo reference

any critique and comment highly appreciated
    so long! monotony

    update 11/12/06:
new stuff at the bottom, and im transfering few of the older pics into links as more than a hundred pics per page are really killing some internetconnections. and i don't want you to run away before watching the new stuff

    Welcome !
    Good studies and nice rendering
Maybe you could refer to loomis's studies, get the faces planes right. It could help you understanding how you should shade faces in a better way.
Remember that upper lips are darker than lower ones.
    Anyway, keep going.

    thanks Recursive_End!
yea youre right about my faces, I really should get those loomis books and work on that. Right now I started with hogarth (but mainly hands, arms and figures so far) but as soon as I can get more anatomy books I' start practising.
Here are two of my first digital sketches. I bought the smallest, cheapest and oldest tablet ever seen via ebay and recieved it last week.
Painter classic used, delivered with the tablet.

Your hands are pretty good and they giveoff a nice sense of energy. However most of your work seems flat and your facial anatomy proportions are wicked off.
    Check out this link:
    http://www.bartleby.com/107/illus382.html
and draw those skulls also check out Loomis' stuff as was previous refrenced.

Great studies, they're really accurate, especially the Hogarth hands. Keep them coming .

    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...al/xcKopie.jpg
maybe I'll work on him a little bit more and add details.
    help is always appreciated...

    edit:
fixed or at least spotted problems with the mouth and some minor details:
    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...l/xc2Kopie.jpg
guess it wasn't too clever to start the picture at that small size (original size)

phew, it's been quite a long time but now I finished my exams more or less and can get back to drawing.
I think it's the best to proceed with studies, mostly from anatomybooks.

Good studies, especially the hands. You show growth in the few months between your first post and the latest ones. Keep it up!

    thanks Xavvaniv,
hands are what I practise most.
but now I should get some more variation in my studies from life.
especially need to do full body studies.

but here some last thumbs and a page when I was bored and supposed to learn.

The cross hatching in your inked hand piece is looking good. It captures the shadow and light nicely. You should use that technique more in your other works. That dog is great. I would like to see more full body studies. No use in learning how to draw perfect hands, feet and torso, if you can't put it all together right?

wow ... very nice stuff .your hand study is quite impressive....and i see that you hae A LOT of potential! great stuff man geep on posting .i will follow your progression which btw is very impressive!

May i suggest some life drawing classes.all this stuff from the books is good but until you draw real ppl and you start to understand light which ur pretty good you will boost up your work time and also greatly improve ur skills!
    Cheers

thanks for your nice comment, deltron.
your right about life drawing, I should really practice that.
but classes are quite rare where I live. If there is enough participation I'll have one weekendcourse at the end of june. well it's only 2 days but might be a good start.

and as I don't want to post without pictures in my sketchbook:
