Very good stuff man! You got some chops for sure!
EDIT Just went to your site! Dude, solid draftsmanship all over the place. I think I was particularly fond of your more cartoon inspired environments. Diiiging your action.
Thanks for sharing these!

man! what an epik landscape!!! wondering....whats causing the smoke? Stampede
February 28th, 2006 #9
i like the first one for the use of shadows/light, nice textures on the sword, looks very realistic.
I think the yellow smoke is actually a cloud formation, suggesting the castle is very high... am I right?
Actually if I may crit the castle scene, I think you could re-arrange the composition a bit, cause the princes should be the main focus, but it looks like the clouds are the main focus now. Maybe zooming in on the princess would help?
other than that awesome stuff

rWDrk - Thanks!
Fisch - Thanks a lot...yeah, I keep getting cartoon gigs, which is a lot of fun, however, I like to mix it up a bit with some realism here and there. I've been working for disney for the past year and hope to do some mature stuff for a change I saw your post...man, sweet stuff...but I'll talk about it in your thread
Infinit - Thanks! speedpainting definitely helps...but it's also a trap, if you stick only to that. Have you seen that thread? it's about 30% top of the line, which is amazing.
tgfx - Thanks!
Denntanos - Thanks! Yeah, I have to do more dynamic shots for sure...they always look better.
Grooveholmes - Thanks! High croma is actually something usually the client wants(my clients anyway)...personally, I think that mono-chromatic pieces look stronger.
Denart - Thanks! Hehe, I've heard that before about this piece. It was totally driven by the client that pays well but completely takes away your artistic freedom. They wanted golden clouds no mater what and then came up with the idea that they should be right underneath the castle, emphasising it's altitude( as "sochap" suggested) You're totally right...it looks like stampede
sochap - Thanks! You're right about the clouds! And yeah, the composition is all over the place...the "princess" is an requested add-on half-way through the piece(cheezy). It's just banged up together, so different than my rough proposition thus I really lost the original idea and energy in this one.
Here's the first rough...

I like the idea of a princess (I thought of her as a Queen though) because it gives me the sense that something's going to happen. Something pretty major considering she's not looking in any particular direction except far. So I quite like her being there.

Good to see you back crazybrush!!! These are looking really hot. I love that winter scene. Don't forget about us over at CA!

Rhynome...good point! Now that you mentioned that, I like the piece a little more Thanks!
Capprotti, how the hell are you man! I'm not forgetting anything, I stumbled upon that thread I mentioned and just had to humbly start pitching in. Over 700 stunning pages of quickies + what really got me is the fact that the godfather is posting there(Mullins)...check it out. I'm still a resident here though...I love this place!
Ur new sketchbook is looking good...I'll drop you a note there.
