that warrior project is looking awesome, it's really great to see all the in-between work and progress shots as well instead of just the pretty final render, thanks for sharing your process a lot can be learned from it.

wow looks really cool! I like seeing the step by step process
IN the non 3D one titled Druss, his arms seem a little short, but in the 3D one that is not a problem and it looks a lot better, very sweet

it would be cool if you would post in my Sketchbook, but meanwhile I will follow this thread some more
Keep it up I am looking forward to the finished one

It has been WAY too long since I was in here! You are amazing. The process for this character design is so inspiring! You make me want to go off and do the same thing (minus the 3d stuff cause I just don't have skills)

Man that is cool. And your painting is fascinating too. Is that the men in black grilling that alien?

Sorry for no crits, but you are way out of my league with what you are doing right now.

    whoo comments.

    hello chaps.

@wombat: thanks, yeah i could give more inbetweens, but haven't. It's been quite fun. The 3d part that I'm on at the moment is a bit boring me now though, the fun bit has been done. I must persevere!

@jedininjaman: hello there, you're bang on about the arm length, i have already fixed that in the 3d as you spotted. Dunno why that happpened, but hey ho. I'll pay closer attention next time. I posted in ur book, some nice stuff there I'll say. good effort!

@Q-Caddlewick: Hi there, yeah its the MIBs doing the bad thing to some ETs. It was from a dsg called "alien bbq" so i took a slightly warped point of view on it. Cheers for the nice comments, but I don't think there are leagues really, just everyone trying to have fun and create cool stuff. If you can look at ur SB every 3-6 months and see a difference, it can't be wrong.

Cheers guys! Gonna be busy with work this week, so not sure how much I can get done, but watch this space..

You get these real great bright areas in there, do you use a layer setting for that or something?

    just white pixels.

fake bloom effect by overlay/soft light a copy of image with gaussian blur, play with levels.

    that is all.

Cool 3D character Is he going in an engine for your project or anything? I think there could be more texturing details, like some dirt and wear so he doesnt look quite so clean, and Im not huge on the axe design, but those are all the negatives I got - good costume exploration. 3DSmax is nice for normal maps hey.

want to try to get better at feeling lighting and creating interesting scenery, so im going to do some 15-20 minute studies from photos to get a few bits of visual vocabulary before i begin

i had forgotten that observational excercises are eye-tiring¬!

    very nice work in here

the digi paints looks very good, i like the inflatable mech one.
The progress on the old warrior was very interesting, and it shows you've got an excellent design porces (altho the variations aren't too differen from one another)

    cool stuff, keep sharing!

    ciao
