it would probably save postage to have all the seattle winning prints sent to redehlert, then he can pass them out at sketch night sometime. we'll all chip in for the shipping charges.

Hey dog. . . . did you see the size of that chicken?!

    good point, z-man!
it's probably going to cost a pretty penny since we're going to take all the prints in this battle.....hahahaaha....

This competition will be somewhat like the battle of Normandy, where we're the allies and you're the 3rd Reich. All joking aside, good luck guys, this should be good. So how's everyone's pieces comin' along? I'm in the final layout stages on the actual board and will be working on the finished pencils in the next day in preperation for scanning. No sneak previews aside from the quickie thumbnails I did on 8 1/2 x 11" paper. Actual piece dimentions are 9x15". I might take a digital photo, or maybe I'll just wait until Saturday to post the WIP.. unless my thumbnails suffice, and then I'd like to maintain some element of surprise and hold off on posting any WIP shots.

Which must make you the axis powers, and mighty Seattle the allies. And we all remember the outcome, right? So, that reminds me of a joke:
Q: How do you know if you are behind American or German lines?
    A. Throw your helmet in the air -- if it comes down on a Sherman tank, you're behind American lines. If it lands on smoking pile of crumbled steel barely reminiscent of a Tiger tank, you're behind German lines.

Hey, are those California plates on that car?

Agreed. The friendly banter is certainly fun, but this should be grand fun and educational too for all involved. I just finished sketching my ideas last night and finally narrowed it down to the final concept. Tonight I'm going to draw a large version on paper and I think there is a place in town that can print it on a large illustration board for me for a reasonable price. If that doesn't work tomorrow I'll be redrawing it again on my brand spanking new illo board. Does anybody have suggestions for illustration boards to use with oils? I have been using watercolor paper slathered onto a piece of masonite with acryllic medium, but I'm out of masonite.

The skin of your enemies works well with acrylics and oils alike. Hell, enough gesso and you can paint on anything. Dave E. (Red) might have some more insight on this one.. I'm just a pencil and pen jockey.

I finally started mine last night. Drew traditionally for the first time in ages (that wasn't just scribbles). Felt good. I'm still doomed though, I think I might pay Steaktron to get my competitor hopelessly drunk for the next few weeks.

Erm... True enough. My fiancee says if I spent as much time painting as I did talking smack, I'd be a pro by now... Ok, I'll TRY and shut up until I've got something to show.....

So just to make sure I make the Saturday deadline here's my WIP:

I'm sort of freaked posting it. Groover is gonna' kill me...now that he knows what I'm making, he'll kill me even harder.

PS..Let me know if I did this wrong.

WOOOOOF! man, I love that one floating DOG-FISH-BIRD? or whatever it is. Good stuff, DOUGBOT! I was actually also thinking of a boy riding dog theme, but I don't know now... I think Doug has sort of taken over that one, still, inspiration doesn't stop there... we'll see... we'll see...
