SEA v SoCal: west si-eede show down
It's been a long time coming, a one month challenge with ONE topic to be done by all.
Topic A boy and his "dog". (boy+dog; boy+giant mech, etc. Put in a scene/treat it as a char design).
•must be a boy, but the 'age' is open to interpretation just like 'dog' is open to interpretation.
•sorry, 'boy' cannot be interpreted as 'girl'.
DUE DATE 1 [WIPs] midnight of Saturday, March 4 (PST) - everyone must post their wips as if this was a real client project, but mainly just to show your competitor that you mean business.
DUE DATE 2 [FINALs]=midnight of Saturday, March 18 (PST) - please do not send redehlert your actual files. Post your files to your servers/hosts and then send me a link to the file as an email. Email your link to redehlert at "email@example.com".

1. This is a one month competition to begin once all pairings are in place.
2. This is also a competition where you must post WIPs by the due date #1 listed above. No last minute b.s. We mean business, because that's what it's like.
3. Any medium is okay, except Photos. Yes, you can do sculpture or 3D, but it would be cooler if the person you're battling is doing the same thing, imho.
4. All final entries will have to be emailed to redehlert as LINKS. Please do not send me your entry. Redehlert's email is 'firstname.lastname@example.org'
3. Your entry will need this label: "yournameVbattlersname_tdome.jpg"
4. Your entries should be RGB and approximately 9x11.25" at 300 dpi (yes, this is hi-res).* Pixel dimension for this size is 2,700 x 3,375.
5. When you have your final entry, scale your piece down to 72 ppit with an end size of approximately 648 x 810 ppi.
*Why Hi-res? Trevor, being a total stud, is going to print out the winners and will need the high-end files to be ftp'd to him. He has access to a stellar printer and so think of this as portfolio material people. You will need to coordinate with Trevor with respect to s/h.
That's all for the rules right now.
Judges: DSillustration, Spinefinger, and Matt Dixon!

HAHA! These topics ROCK.
But yea, good luck at finding better topics... although that shouldn't be too hard.

Okay, naturally, I'm in favor of a pan topic - that is, ONE topic for the entire TDOME. It is, in my opinion, far too confusing with the pick your topic setup. TDOME's aren't the local Food Court.
Secondly, as for genre, I'm wide open. However, I'd personally like to see it focus down to a scene, character, creature or at the least something more definate that an ambigious couple of words thrown together.
Just my thoughts.

Alright, count me in. I'm gonna fuckin' hate myself for taking this on, along with the ACCD vs. CCAD battle, and school fulltime, and work... but oh well.
As for topics. I CAN do sci-fi, but I don't enjoy it. So, how about a topic that doesn't limit the genre? That's my mantra for the month. My brain isn't working right now, but I'll send in some topics tonight after my brain catches up with my co... body.

"-Nosferatu does a Nike advertisement. This piece should have graphic design elements and be presented as a print ad."

count me in.
TEAM LASER EXPLOSION GNONA RAWK UR FACE!!!

Well said, Shane - the first post reflects that whatever topic is chosen ALL will do it. And yes, a focused item will be just swell.
BTW, do you happen to know how I might generate a poll in this thread?
ps. Phuzion, Misledtomisery and Character - you've been added. Welcome aboard!

Okay okay... topics... hmmmm...:
So, my idea with these is that they're not limited to their "original" genres. HOWEVER!! Don't just slap some kevlar on in place of plate armor and think that's a "cool" idea. Put some thought into the design. If you're going to change the genre, i.e. push it forward 2000 years, consider how the armor/weapons/hair styles/clothes/planet!!! might have evolved given their original state. Yeah... that said...
- Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
- the Lady of Shallot as she lays down in her boat to die
- Parzival defeats Ither the Red Knight
- Mephisto's fall from Grace
- David and Goliath
- A cup of morning tea/coffee
- Lady Don't Tek No (check out the Latryx song, it'll rock your pants off)
- "Where the f#@k am I?"
- "Oh... you're going to regret that..."
Yeah, that's all I got for now... mainly cause I have shit tons of work to do.
