hey nice facial studies! ....muy muy importante! Although, i think you should be carefull of the axis and scale of your ears.... some seem to be a bit off.... Nice use of line wieght and pencil technique! all and all, great start!
Nice start man! I agree about the ears, lookin kinda small. I think ears that are a little too big are less noticeable than ears that are too small.
Great analysis of all the features of the face. Would like to see more figure work!
Wow... awesome start...
Thanks for point out the ear thing. I've got some general idea of what is off and whats on, like my eyes seem to be really wonky proportion wise lately. This thread is going to have an assload of head and hand drawings in it because I have to do a minimum of 350 of those in the next 9 weeks for my head and hands class. Most of my figure work this term is looking like it'll be painting and clothed figures, Though I'll be getting more into that with analytical figure drawing class. I hope to have more up this weekend if I get the chance. I'm gonna be at the gnomon workshop and I have a buttload of homework so they may not go up quite that soon.
I love your line work, beautiful
Thanks for the feedback guys, here'es the next round, sorry I didn't get it up sooner, I was at the Gnomon Weekend Workshop and running around doing homework all weekend. So here's the new stuff of note since last time
New stuff for Danny Galieote's Analytical Figure
from life 8 min poses
Bob Kato's Sketching for Illustration in chronological order since the term started.
5 min line only
tone with ground up compressed charcoal more 5's
2x 25 min poses with acrlyics editing out the shaddows working dark to light
Same idea with a still life, longer time
First BIG assignment in there, acrylic mastercopy with a limited palete (burnt sienna, burnt umber, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, titanium white) Concentrating on value grouping for composition. We had to chose from Sargent, Howard Pyle, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, NC Wyeth, or George Bellows, and had to work from a _good_ ref. Final size is approx 13x17" on a 15x20 cold press double weight illustration board. This is my second go at it, multiple versions were expected to get passable level quality wise. Took about 25 hours for all the painting, and 4 hours researching to pic the image. I really wanted to work from some of Eakin's paintings, but I couldn't get a decent reference of any of the ones that I really liked. I got a B ^_^
More from Kyle Kane's head and hand drawing class
all 10-15's from projected photos and master copies in class, think there are some cornwells thrown in there, probably some other illustrators
Now some heads 15-30m
Some hogarth hands
And the best art story I've got, I was drawing this picture in a Coco's Bakery in Temple City couple friday's back, started it when I ordered, finished after I ate, waitress came over and freaked out about it, called over younger, hot waitress who was also like "DAMN!" and older waitress ended up giving me free pie! FREE PIE == best homework incentive EVAR

I DRAW AT DENNY'S A LOT AND I DON'T GET EITHER! >=[ hahaha
Awesome progress, man. Really big jump! Great work, I'll be checking back for sure.

nice studies here man. id like the pics a bit sharper though? theyre a bit blurry, which is a shame cause they seem really nice and loose, but still quite solid...
IanE: Thanks man, I should have a ton of stuff to post every week or so
tensai: thanks, and yeah, I've gotta get better shots next time, most of the work is fairly large so they are all digital camera shots =/ I miss having a tripod
Just some Seattle vs SoCal thunderdome stuff at the moment.
More head and hands stuff
Amazing wonderful girlfriend!!
Awesome signed drawing (was technically autographed before I did the drawing)
master copies Peter De Seve and Gabrielle Del'Otto
Liz Hurley, Jamie Lynn Seigler-Discalla
Utada Hikaru and a bad Del'Otto copy
Digital life painting from my painting and comp class.
I've got more stuff to post up, but most of it either I haven't photographed yet, or I haven't had a chance to resize the images down for intarweb postings. Sorry I haen't posted in so long, I'll try and put more up tomorrow.
I'll be subscribing to this thread....nice stuff.....can't wait to see more...
Long time no post <.<
Ok so here's a gargantuan update from the stuff I haven't had a chance to post in the last couple months ^ // ^
2nd week's head painting from Gary Meyer's Sketching for Illustration class.
Finished Illustrator Planer Head
everything else is from the last several weeks of 2nd semester that I hadn't had the chance to get up before now.
mixture of stuff from head and hands and analytical figure. if it's a full figure drawing, it's danny's class, or any environment stuff.
