I feel I've seen your work before. Have you done any art for a game or something (geek, I know.)

I recognise the top right one. (The elf lady with the green background)

    New Sctuff! 7/06

Hey-hey y'all, sorry so silent! It has been crazy busy in the studio, but I've been working on projects that take forever to finish so i haven't had much to share. But finally some stuff has been released.

First I found out Bungie and Marvel have released a pin-up I did for the Halo graphic novel like over a year ago, and I thought this would be a groovie place to share it. I've heard it is in a recent X-box 360 magazine, but haven't seen it yet.

Then the folks at wizards of the coast released an angel image I did for Magic that won't come out till fall. That's a rare thing for them to do. It's a huge image for me at like 22' on the small side.

Lastly a recent Dripping fang cover.

Hope everyone has been well! Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

    Rocck on,
    Fisch

The glow through Cortana in the Halo piece is eye burningly beautiful and I love the way the graphic elements in the angel painting seem to flicker in and out of existence. I really like the characters in the last one but I think the richness of the flat brown on the foreground trees detracts from the images overall quality.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Young Paddy- totally appreciate your honesty. I should have mentioned that on all the Dripping Fang covers, the graphic trees have a mat finish, and everything inside the trees has a SpotLam (spot lamination) so the rendered stuff is super glossy, but of course there is no way of knowing that from my jpg. If you are wandering through a Borders or Barnes and Noble, check um out. I'd be curious if it still bothered you, or if the separation works better!

I like the color palette you chose for your two character designs. Those are neat. And the characters that look like trading cards are way cool. What program did you use to create the environment?

Shadoman & Nephilim, glad you are digging that angels face! Even though the painting is one of my biggest, I think the face is smaller than a quarter. There is surprisingly not much to it, when I work that small, less is more!

Sanxavier, I pretty much use Photoshop for all of my prep work now a days, I use to use Painter alot, but lately photoshop covers all the bases. Though I miss that pallet knife and glow brush painter has! And how I wish the p-shop brushes would would drag the direction of my stroke, and not at a set angle.

Beautiful work, you've always been one of my favorite MTG artists and you are constantly evolving, which is really a pleasure to see. It seemed like you used to do very tradional fantasy paintings, but have more recently begun to experiment with graphic shapes and more intense color, its awesome~*

    Scott--

Lovely!! The angel just took my breath away. Between you and Nicolas, I'm starting to have this little itch to start working more graphical elements into my stuff. I can't wait to see more from you!!

Hey, it's good to finally find somewhere you reside (somewhat) frequently Scott. I've loved your work ever since I leafed through my dad's DnD manuals. Good to see you're putting out some nice work. I like the style of the Dripping Fang stuff. They look like the kind of thing I would have loved as a kid.

For me I am just looking for something that works for me. It is hard to impress other with your work when you are really trying to do these things. I study paintings till my eyes run dry. I am not looking to do work like others. I want to become my own entity where everyone is like "hotdamn that is friggin hot!" or "damn that is bryce's signature style!" Just know that I am inspired by your work and I really appreciate that you have taken the time to post your work at the same time give phenominal feedback to everyone. Most of what you have said in the many post of yours, really helped give me insight on things that I am doing currently and things that I am not doing, such as the planning, which I am starting to do currently alot more often, because the quality of my work is usually poor because of the poor planning and it is or is not giving me a bad rep in the forums. (Maybe it is the way I talk and the way put things that make me come off to other people as I am the idiot or I don't know what I am talking about, hmmm...) But besides that I am very grateful that I have taken the time to go through your thread and read thoroughly through your posts and some of the other guys posts to get a whole wealth of information. Thanx again Scott. Saved your website for inspiration. Lovely work! XD

TONS of inspiration, both visually and mentally. Thanks for sharing. I was just thinking, thank goodness for the internet and for peope like yourself who willingly devote their time to share your knowledge and inspiration and at no personal gain. This forum (the internet and sites like this) provides a connection to bettering themselves at their passions in a manner that would otherwise be unavailable. Thanks for your contibution and, aaahhh yes, I will be checking back in on this thread.

    Scott-

I've been trying to use my witch doctor powers for years to steal your painting skills to no avail. But reading your post about how you stopped trying to be like your favorite artists has inspired me to put away my Scott Fischer voodoo doll for good. And my Brom doll, my Odd Nerdrum doll, my Frazetta doll...man, I've got a lot of dolls.

Thanks for the thread, the insight into your process, and the sharing of images of your great work.

    Dave
