    No. You don't have to.

Tools do not the artist make.

Many concept artists use the digital medium, but it is not required. There are just as many that use traditional media.

Focus on your skills and education first. Then, if you feel the need, have the disposable cash, whatever, then get the wacom.

This, of course is tempered by what it is exactly that you are going in for. If you are required by the nature of your work to produce digital works, then yes, you will need it purchase one.

But that is strictly dictated by what it is that you are aiming for.

Well, first, you need to understand art like Pamela Anderson understands boobs.

The computer is just a tool. Pencils are tools and spitting ochre on a wall is just a method.

However, if you desperately want to use the computer as a tool, there is no substitute for a tablet.

Just realize, the computer doesn't make good art. In fact, it generally hampers good art until you can make very good art.

dogfood - bad analogy, pam anderson only knows how to have ugly boobs. you should probably find someone with good boobs to analogize with.

I only mentioned it becuase she's been changing sizes up and down and I see her almost constantly manipulating them when I see her in my mind. (but yes, she's rather skanky)

i have a vacom but dont use it,and i like natural breasts more then pamelas plastic, that is ofcourse if they are not saggy or so.
find it harder to draw with the wacom then with mouse. but im also not a famous concept designer. just my bored two cents. can give them back if you wish. need new shoes.
