    book project : Update #3

I'm updating a bit early this week because I'm off to Yosemite with friends over the weekend. This image follows the last one. It shows the old man behind the intricate hands.

    Here is the closeup

I agree with Keyth. Closeup, its just a bunch of colors and squiggles( placed in the correct place, of course) and boy does it look fantastic. Good job!

    Great picture!

The two minor things that stand out to me is that firstly the head seems to be sitting too far down on his torso. The helmet is a little too tall maybe. I guess it boils down to what design you are aming at. But right now the head seems to be floating in front of him.

Secondly his left cheek bone (our POV) seems have gotten quite a dent. If that's just his face being a little weathered it's good, but otherwise it, together with the shadow on the nose, makes his face look a little "twisted" counter-clockwise.

That's all. Those things came up when I was looking at it to find some faults. I didn't really notice it to begin with, other than that it's a really great picture. I love the lightning on the beard!

    Keep up the good work!

Personally i can't get enough of the lighting. superb bro. and the pictures are amassing into a narrative. the reverse of the classical illustration process. keep up the good work. it's much appreciated. i'll be high on the list for hard copy when published.

    cheers

Great brushwork! But I have two minor design quirks with it...the posture of the figure (neck down, elbows up) and the deep rim around the table, this seems like an amazingly uncomfortable working situation for someone doing detail work like this. Also the huge bank of lights behind him, and the underlit table, would combine to make his work really hard to see wouldn't it?

(edit - oh sorry..no rim, I thought the boxything to the left went all the way around the table...but anyway, elbows up...endedit)

I know it's not 'artistic' to worry about this stuff...but it sort of undercuts the reality of the concept.

Does it bother anyone else or am I being an old woman?
