umm general rule is only one image, but like, it doesnt need to show the acctual event happening if you get my drift, it can jes be a scene out of it witha description, lets say, a mobile salt processing plant thats clearing lakes to make drinking water, or something, and you can just show that, so like jes snippits, its not like your expected to show the entire process in one image, jes grab a fun bit and run with it

This topic sounds very cool but very demanding too.
    I´ve a question:
I´m a new member here ( hello everybody ^^ ) and it seems like I can´t post attachments (e.g. images). When will this change?

uhmmm never. it wont change, you need to find yourself a host. Go read the faq and read the section on posting images it will explain how the magic happens.

    About the topic,

it doesnt need to illustrate that there is terraforming in progress, this topic is so incredibly open make it anything and jes explain the terraforming thats happening, think about it, very young ecosystems, maybe even planets that havent yet reached stable continents, flood plains mixed with lava flows and very early life growing on it jes beign introduced, what would happen if you changed mars's climate and added water vegitation and animals and made it a national park?

    hey thanks red_rook

I read the FAQ but it seems that I´ve misinterpreted them. I thought "you may not post attachments" means I can´t attach an image even if it´s hosted on an external server.
    Thanks for clarifying

i was going to participate this round but it seems my only means of using a scanner are gone, so i'll give out the idea in hopes someone else could do it justice- "the gates of new atlantis" , a huge glass or energy sheild around a planet to keep in new gases such as oxygen and the like, held together by several huge orbiting stations, which monitor the progress of the terraform, and also act as gates to the new planet. would have a huge 'gate' like add-on and big enough to house a small community of people that work at it.

i really wish i could have done it myself, but it doesnt look as though i can. good luck if you want to use it.

No. No. Uh uh. No way. Ain't happening.

    alright, gimme a sec.

The 23-ATTU (all terrain terraforming unit) has been designed to be dropped from high orbit to the target planets surface where it them transforms from capsule form into spider form and begins drilling into the planet surface to tap into the readily availablbe geothermal energy. Once stablized, the 23-ATTU begins adjusting the atmosphere through fission/fussion reactors designed specifically to output nitrogen and oxygen in vast amounts, changing even the most acidic atmosphere into one cpable of spreading the viral construct of man across the galaxy.

come on guys, where are your entries?!

    PS 7, 3.5 hours

Stigma C-24, a rather big planetoid in the outer Vytex rim has recently been discovered to have enough potential in order to be converted into an oxygen rich atmosphere. Prisoners from Jota-7 will be transferred to the high security facility that is planned to be build on Stigma C-24 in the near future.

Hideyoshi: Great, I like it, how story it has?

February 3th 2164, the Caucasus, Russia

    Project NOE

Year 2164: North Pole and South Pole glaciers are melting faster and faster. Global heating is unstopable, every next year are temperatures higher. World ocean level go up, big cities near ocean are under water. Sciencists was wrong when they predict that water go up by 30metres, already now is water level 40m higher than normal. This is the biggest disaster in human kind history. But we have chance to save us. Project NOE is form how to save land. We started to move ground to water and began build massive walls which stop water coming on land. It is the biggest terraforming project ever. Technology is in highest level and than is possible something like this, which wasn´t be possible beafore 30years. Project NOE is new hope for our land.

Here is my effort for this week. I've spent too long on the bg and now am having a hell of a time trying to find the composition again with the black floating thingy. Anywho - I'll giv'er one more go tomorrow. C&C appreciated.

Gamma 12 Terraform Project: it was determined that bringing melted water down from the frozen caps of Mount Lemke to the lower, livable, altitudes of Planet X would be best achieved by scoring the surface - creating "natural" viaducts.

    2236

After a journey lasting for decades mankind finally discovered a habitable planet in the Alpha Centauri solar system.
It was classified as an optimal site for further travellings through space.... so the Authority for Exploration of Space (AES) decided to build up their new base on Zeta 18.
Currently gigantic facilities and infrastructure are under construction to ensure the planet will turn into new living space.

    hide: thanks

    great use of colors rawwad

    goran: really cool idea

deepfried: maybe you should try to do some more refining on your one. Add more details and stuff. Looks quite rough at the moment

This is a close one, but I'm gonna shoot for 3 out of 4 this week in the activities. There're already some kick ass entries in this round, Chrismax, rawwad, wow!

    sketch

    Final:

Brief: In 2178, the "Earth 2" terraforming project was just beginning; the search was on for planetary bodies that could support human life. Planets that had sustained life in the past, such as Mars in our own solar system, were ideal, but moons and large asteroids were being considered as well.

Location: 2098-AP7. Third (3rd) planet in system.

Message Begins: Located planetary body with sufficient mass and suitable distance from neighboring star. Terraforming platform sent out to orbit planet, zero (0) incident. Balloons deployed into low atmosphere, zero (0) incident. Atmospheric gas generation and deployment begun at 0330 hours, March 15th, 2202.

<<<Mission update>>>: Unit 172 reporting malfunction. Four (4) man team deployed, estimate arrival minus two (2) minutes. Error logged and transmitted. <<<End update>>>

"A small greenhouse facility uses water from the melted martian ice caps to farm bacteria, which in time will convert the thin carbon dioxide atmoshphere to a more earthlike habitat."

    Rawwad: Nice warm/cool color balance

chrismax: Your sky and mountains are quite epic, nicely done.

chuck: well, to be honest, I feel the same when it comes to CHOW and COW actually...
So, I guess, in turn, I am overly ambitious with this E.O.W thing.
But still, I want some competition which is totally showing up right now.
    thanks for the compliment!

I feel the same about all of them. But it's good practice anyway. and I figure if I can tackle the subject in a totally different style..at least Im keeping my brains flexible and enjoying the different takes people have on any given subject. I mean. why should I bother to post at all? nobody ever says any thing not "keep trying" not " "quit wasting our bandwidth , you suck", nothing. but thats ok.
I keep my critiques to myself too.
But the works are usually beautiful and always interesting....

Well I was not going to post originally, due to lack of time but here is what i have done so far (only found out 4 hours ago)

According to archeological fidnings, the said painting of Life on Lemuria is based on one obscure event. A unknown painter colonist of the First on the once barren red moon outpost of Lemuria painted a picture despicting the scene where one day, a massive towering structure emerged from nowhere, and where ever its presence was felt, life started to flourish, clouds, atmosphere, sweet air began to change and become transformed.

The painter called this the Life Arke of Lemuria, and ever since the painting has been infamous because of its anonymity and ludicrous potential as the origin of life on Lemuria
